They are not but McDonnell is an absolute horrible tit who will stop at nothing to get power. He is a far left lunatic and a very dangerous man, people like him should be exiled to some socialist utopia in South America to teach him a lesson.

Corporate manslaughter charges are quite likely, though.

Wrong terminology, right principle.

Likely maybe but people especially politicians should wait until it's been fully reviewed and published,

Corporate manslaughter is not a 'political decision' this is again cheap point scoring. It is misleading the public to gain votes, a vile man.

I'm not sure rhetoric and headlines like this are helpful.

John McDonnell: Grenfell victims 'murdered by political decisions'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40401314

My word, that is something else.

If McDonnell and Corbyn are the politics of hope at the minute I dread to think what they'll be if they turn nasty.

He hasn't blamed any particular party though has he?

'by political decisions that were taken over recent decades.'

Think that covers tory, tory/lib, Labour governments.

Edited to mention that I'm not sure that using the term 'murdered' helps anyone.

Apologies if already posted  (again) but now I'm reading some of the Grenfell residents are being housed in local flats, some worth up to 8 mill quid...and some of the residents of said flats have the right hump about it!

What a fookin mess the whole thing is.

Quite likely? I'd be amazed.

Labour run Camden Council got a few "issues" to sort it seems. Something like 1000+ fire doors missing in a bunch of flats, 650 flats in fact having to be emptied as their safety condition was considered dire once inspected. Pure neglect it seems.

Im expecting Corbyn / McDonald to be getting straight down there showing understandable utter outrage, this is a serious find, a national outrage, the BBC to afford them 24/7 coverage for 2-3 days unquestioned as usual, even when they are suggesting it's the attempted murder of all inhabitants!!!

......or maybe they and the BBC will be silent......tuck it away quietly and as quickly as possible.

http://news.sky.com/story/government-fire-investigators-reported-cladding-risks-in-2016-10928193

Whatever your political views something is very wrong when those who would have been paid and well paid to do these tests in 2016 and report findings as adequate are asked back a year later and find every one they check now has a problem. Says a lot about them and also those who invited them back. The last Labour government are not blameless but the current government and the last Coalition did seem to have a policy of rewarding failure with further contracts.

I would love to know what these tests are, and whether they are simply testing cladding or whether they are studying every facet of the fire prevention/resistance measures, and also, whether they are testing them against current or old regulations.

If you're testing every element of a 70s/80s tower block it should come as no surprise that they do not comply with current building regulations. I heard in one interview with a Greenfell resident that there was only one stairwell that people could escape from. How true that is I don't know, but I assume at the time it was built it complied with building regulations even though any new build would now have to meet far more rigorous standards.

There really does need to be a much clearer explanation for how this has happened and what excatly is wrong with these buildings.

I don't know how you do things over in Germany, but in Great Britain we have due process, which means an inquiry and police & health and Safety investigations will determine who is responsible, and the court determine their criminal culpability.  It helps us to not lock up the wrong people.

Have they failed fire regs, or are they just been found to use the flamable cladding? I've not really kept up with the story but there is a big difference if it's the latter.

Reading the article on Sky it seemed to indicate they have failed tests put in place since the fire. ie. they've now decided it's not a good idea to wrap a building in tinder, and so the buildings are now failing.

As you say, ever changing regulations mean that almost every home in the country wouldn't pass the most recent building and fire regs.
