Does Shakespeare have any input on transfers

He doesn't pick the players,

he has said he asked for British with premier league experience in the interview before Arsenal when talking about maguire.

should imagine that it's not his say with regards to Lawrence as the club could lose 7-8 million in 12 months if he doesn't sign

funny, i interpreted that same quote about maguire as him picking the players lol

Who take advice from Rudders no doubt?

Who take advice from all their employees/advisors and make the we decision based on that. Listen you don't make a multi billion dollar empire by making bad decision

You can though - if the advisors screw up. Happens every day to 100's of business Empires.  VW ?

It's not rocket science. The lad won't sign a contract. We won't play him. What's he going to do? Loan him out for a season then let him go on a free?

^^^this^^^

It all seems quite amicable to me.

Lawrence has proved himself last season as a quality Championship player but still can't break into the Leicester squad. With one year left on his contract it's the right thing for him to move on and Leicester to sell.

I'm sure Lawrence would sign an extension if he was assured he would be a major part of the squad but he has three or four players ahead of him so it's best for all concerned he moves on.

Seems he doesn't have any say in Lawrence's transfer. Doesn't want him to go.

We need an open letter about this...

I don't think this is a case of Shakey not having a say in transfers, I thinks it's more of the player wanting to play regularly. If this is the case, then you can't blame Shakey. Tom certainly proved last season he can cut it in the championship, and maybe sees things as take a step down to go forwarded again. I think that's fair enough to be honest and £7m if reports are anything to go by is good business. I don't want him to go as I think he's got the talent.

No doubt everyone wants to play, with some making more noise about it than others.

Personally I'd have taken the £20m supposedly offered for Gray, signed another winger and tried to involve Lawrence regularly because he does seem capable to scoring or assisting goals on a fairly regular basis.

Gray's climbed no higher in my estimation since the day he joined and I can well imagine Rowett thinking he's done the best of the business between himself and Leicester. Time will tell of course.

Think this sounds like Lawrence 'wanting out'!

Put's the club in a quandary.....Decent money now or, hang on to an unsettled player and see him live for zilch next Spring !

He asked for a transfer.....fact

Comments about the Maguire transfer were along the lines of ...when I saw him in training i was pleased with what the scouting team came up with??!!  Thought that was odd. + Claudio used to basically say he's the coach and doesn't get involved in that. (although credited with signing Mendy)

There's a potential world class player in Gray. And I know that term is banded about a lot but it's there. The worry is as you said he's no further developed in terms of impact on the pitch yet than when he first joined. Didn't he come on against spurs in the cup in one of his first games or 1st game and almost score a wondergoal?  I get that he wants and needs to be playing but he's never made himself undroppable yet. If he sorts his end product he could go right to the very top but he's right on the line now between being a great player or a waste of talent.

Reflecting on recent history at Leicester,  it's hard to imagine, in a football sense, why Shakespeare would be happy with so many signings which have been questionable at best prior to his tenure, and why he wouldn't wish to be influencial in any future recruitment.

I admire your optimism.

I'm fairly sure he does.

No manager wouldn't like having players signed for the team by the chairman or owner etc, without their consent, as it's risky business (Fawaz apparently did this whilst owning Forest) and a move that could affect the manager's faith in the board etc.

Shakespeare appears as someone who wants to control every aspect of the football, non-financial side, and so he should -as his position is a key one that requires someone who's both able to lead and also is trustworthy/reputable enough to control the transfer movement of the squad.

Not unless Messi is shagging him!

If he doesn't and it's down to Macia and Rudkin to decide who we go for then it's a very worrying setup, thankfully I think our manager will have a big say.
