But not cheated /.bent the rules to win things ?

Narh but Tigers are like the Man Utd of rugby union.

For the neutrals in the country Sarries Tigers is like a Liverpool United cup final. Ideally you want them both to lose lol

For the sakes of the city and some good friends I do hope Tigers win. Plus Sarries have won enough recently. But there's generally not too much love for Tigers about the rest of English rugby.

I don't give us much of a chance if I'm honest. I just think they will shut us down. For me, it's almost immaterial. The season has been a resounding success whichever way you look at it.

Still a fvcking disgrace that the team that finishes top of a standard round robin table over an entire season doesn't just win.

The thing I hate the most about rugby by far. Cheap money spinning nonsense.

I get why the Americans do it. Geographically massive region with a lot of teams in multiple conferences. Absolutely no excuse for the Gallagher Prem to be doing it.

I agree. The play-off games are exciting, but it's just wrong. I'd say the same regardless of who finished top. I think they saw what an event/money spinner the rugby league grand final is and wanted to cash in. At least in the Super League the team that finishes top is awarded a trophy!

Yeah when it first came in I actually used to have a Tigers season ticket cos we couldn't afford City ones. First year or two that's what happened. Team finishing top still won the league and was champions and the play offs were like an extra cup. Had a bit of a Charity Shield vibe.

Guess that wasn't good enough for them so they switched it up. Remember Glos getting shafted by it several years running after that where they were topping the league and then bottling the play offs lol

While we're at it, about half the Sarries squad should have been cited for the weekend and Faz and Daly should be looking at significant bans.

Citing commissioner has apparently found nothing to charge lol

Everything about Saracens gets under my skin more than it should. Everything right down to how they celebrate tries/penalties. They remind me of a twatty kids rugby team. Ben Earl encapsulates everything about them, he's just so insufferable.

I'd go so far as to say they're one of the least likeable teams in professional sport.

They make Atleti seem appealing lol

Anyone going to the final? Good memories of beating Gloucester, first year it was branded as Guinness Prem I think. Also vividly remember losing to Sale, Charlie Hodgson completely ran the show.

Worth reading the extracts on Saracens in the Exeter book - Exe Men. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/oct/11/what-exeter-really-think-of-saracens-they-won-those-titles-by-cheating

I don't think Exeter will deny - Rob Baxter and their players hated them (and still do). Vunipola in particular.

Cant argue with that. Saracens won titles whilst cheating. It was something that was happening for years and Rugby bureocrats turned a blind eye so that not to rock the boat. Their English titles should've been taken off them. Vial joke of a club. They all knew they were cheating from the players, backroom staff to the owner, but who says cheaters never prosper.

You can take their titles off them as far as I'm concerned, but it would open a can of worms. You can't just award the titles to Exeter, because the teams that lost to Saracens in the semi-finals could reasonably argue that they could have made the final had Saracens not broken the salary cap so significantly.

Exeter are actually a good example to use to show how Saracens cheated (and probably still are) the system. Exeter built for years and slowly improved year by year but now their bubble has burst because success on a level playing field is simply unsustainable. The fact Saracens have sustained this for over 12 years now should raise eyebrows further, especially as they have a tiny fan base.

Yeah I agree. I think the fairest way was to remove all Saracens home and away results and see who came top of the table. Not sure how that would've affected relegation though.

Not a massive fan of rugby but been offered tickets at a decent price with the kids this weekend.

2 questions.

Is it unsegregated seating at Twickenham for this?

Is there any decent parking nearby?

Been once before but that was in the early 90s

I'd go if I could afford it. The cheapest tickets are £39, which I don't think is too bad but then there's all the travel, food, drink costs etc. It's a lot of money to sit by yourself. My brother and his mates are going but his tickets were £59 and he bought them 3 months ago.

I have been sulking that I couldn't go because of a prior commitment, but tested positive for covid yesterday, so feeling a lot happier about the fact I hadn't bought a ticket! Looking forward to cheering on from the sofa

Well it looks like we are set up to kick our way to glory, Wigglesworth starts with Youngs on the bench feel for JVP & slightly annoyed also.

Ashton replaces Nadolo on the wing & Porter replaces Nadolo in the centre lets hope we don't regret not having the lump on the bench at least, with Scott prefered to cover either centre births

I would have liked to have seen Faz trying to tackle Nadolo

Big fan of Nadolo but I think he would struggle defensively with the speed Saracens play at. With you when it comes to Jack, but we will also really benefit from Wigglesworth's experience.
