I don't fancy my cousin and ergo am not a rugby union fan but anything that's good for the city is good for me baby.

My mate of mine was in Vauxhall drinking last night, had to explain to his Canadian girlfriend why a load of middle aged Tigers fans were wearing Indiana Jones esque hats.

It’s just a day out for all teams. They sell the tickets early without knowledge of the teams and try to make an event of for all of Rugby.

It’s similar for the Super League Grand Final. Except they are all muttering ‘I can’t spake’ at each other.

Atmosphere in general before hand felt so different to the FA cup final for instance. Seemed, as you mentioned, more like a celebration of the season than a final.

But, thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, was a breath of fresh air not being overly stewarded or pushed into a section compared to the football.

I went to the final Tigers lost to Saracens in 2011 and I couldn’t believe where we sat there were three blokes wearing Bath shirts.  Imagine going to the FA cup final we won against Chelsea and seeing three Liverpool shirts.

Yeah we were sat next to 4 Sale Sharks fans who had driven down for the match.

You have to remember as well that’s it is nearly impossible to get a ticket for England at Twickenham unless you want to watch them play the Baa Baa’s or a Tier 2 team. Still then tickets are cheaper for the Premiership Final (plus numerous deals they do) and it’s slightly less hectic than an international and the corporate crowd

What a miserable little soul you are.

There are plenty of bootcut wearers that loved our demise in the early 2000s and our relegation to League One. And plenty that seem oh so bothered about “football thugs” and “oh he barely touched him, you wouldn’t see rugby players behave like that”. 👍

Yeah there’s daft hating dicks on both sides. Me. I love and live sport. I played both games. See the skill and beauty in both arts and have no time for cultural fan pettiness and hate. Amazing game yesterday. And a squad of compatriots not superstars grafted from the bottom back to the top through hard work and team spirit. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

Might be worth moving on and not letting that get you down 15-20 years later...

Ditto, I played both (rugby at school, football for a club) and so can appreciate both. In fact, as a general rule, I prefer to watch rugby (when non-partisan) to the majority of football games. I'll watch 6 nations games (any teams) in preference to the Nations League matches.

I've met plenty over the years too, best not to stoop to their level. Winds them up that they are reveling in your teams failure and congratulate or even celebrate theirs. So enjoy a city team doing well, let them be miserable bastards when we do well.

And if they bring up the how footballers act weakly by rolling on the floor etc, I just point out they aren't weak, they are just acting because they know they can gain an advantage from it, doing that wouldn't work in Rugby, but they use other means to con the officials to gain an advantage.

But there's morons on both sides. It's not a rivalry. On the one hand there's the weirdos you just described and on the other are weirdos like you.

Both are pretty fvcking sad.
