Got nothing against dogs, despite preferring cats. Dog owners that don't deal with dog mess responsibly, now that's a different matter...

Surely that must be more of a problem with cats seeming they just wonder around everywhere with no owner present.

Cats usually have a litter tray at home or are more discrete about it though, and you can't really blame the owner if they do go in public as it's just the nature of the animal. Some dog owners will just let their dog shit on a pathway or in a public park and not be bothered.

Again though, cat owners have no idea where their cats are doing their business, when they are out and about.
Could easily be on a pathway, public park or my sodding garden.

Cats will usually bury their shit. They also prefer to go in a quiet place, so it's unlikely you're going to find cat shit in the middle of your lawn. You'll most likely find it in the corner under a little bit of soil or gravel.

Dogs will go anywhere and leave it. Now obviously that's mostly going to be in your own garden as dogs don't go wandering like cats. But out on the street when they are being walked by their owner there's no excuse for leaving it. In fact that's even worse than cats, because there's a human involved and they have taken the conscious decision to leave it.

I've just said it in another post, but cats like to go in private places. If you're finding shit in the middle of a public path, a cat didn't do it. They'll go somewhere quiet, in a corner somewhere.

It's why when you get a cat they tell you to put the litter tray in an area of the house with the least traffic, because if its somewhere busy, like the hallway, they won't use it.

So, as long as my dog shit in a corner I could leave it without being judged? Interesting.

Yep true, but unfortunately it's just the nature of the animal - a hedgehog or rabbit with a bad belly could come into your garden and do it at any time, and it's annoying but acceptable because it's what they do. There's no excuse for dog owners not cleaning up their dogs mess though, unless their dog roams independently like a cat does lol

There’s plenty of excuse but non of it would be valid, I just think it’s kind of ironic a cat owner should judge a dog owner on cleaning up after ones pet.
I always do with my dog, unless a cat is only a house cat (which is cruel) then I’m way more responsible that they are.

Imagine thinking cats shit in the middle of the lawn or something and don't bury it lol

Seriously though, if you do ever observe behaviour like that let the owner know asap because it usually means there's a medical issue.

Not at all. You are with your dog, why is it acceptable for you to watch your dog shit and then leave it?

Firstly you seem to be blaming any shit you find on cats, when as pointed out, that's probably not going to be a cat, as they are very private animals and hide it. Secondly as @pmcla26said it's the nature of cats they wander around on their own, so whilst I get the frustration that you find this shit you think a cat did that almost certainly wasn't from a cat, cat owners can hardly be expected to follow their cat everywhere to clean up after them. (Also as they bury it, it would be hard to find). You walk your dog, you are there when it shits, there is no excuse at all for not cleaning up.

BTW I'm not particularly happy you dog owners let's your dogs piss up just about anything they fancy, from trees and lampposts to my car or wall. And you're there when they do it. And do you clean it up? Not a chance. You just let their piss trickle down the on the pavement for people to walk in, kids to fall over in. And yet a cat burying it's shit in the corner of a garden is apparently the big problem.

The "blackout" is a ridiculous, outdated concept based on assumptions and a pretence that people want to watch inferior football. (this might not be totally "unpopular" but so much of the stuff I've consumed has driven me mad this week)

Honestly, the fact that if I, or other Leicester fans can't make a 350 mile round trip on a Saturday to Newcastle away, we have absolutely no chance of watching it legally because Andy or Melissa might fancy a spontaneous trip to Runcorn FC is absolutely barmy.

How about the vast majority of lower league clubs prove that they're capable of spending money within their means, and that they lower the astronomical ticket prices? That might bring some financial sustainability and more fans in.

There are hundreds of thousands of fans who want to see their team who cannot make games for one reason or another (family, finance, sold out) and who have zero interest in going to their local team. And thus, in 2021, they can't watch their team on TV playing 200 miles away, but someone 11,000 miles away can? Nonsensical.

I’d rather cats did dump it in the middle of the lawn to be honest. Better than finding a delightful surprise half buried in among your veg or flowers.

Of course cat owners are responsible for their cat shitting all over the place. They’ve chosen (a) to have a cat and (b) to let it wander about.

”You can’t hold me responsible for my pet grizzly bear killing your kids. It’s just what bears do.”

Well if I had to choose between a cat shitting in my garden and a dog peeing on my car I’d certainly prefer the dog. Of course neither would be even better.

I can't tell what the solution is. Take the cat on walks?

The obvious actual solution is that people shouldn’t have pet dogs or cats in towns.

Sucks to suck.

Jk, let the owner know if you can, like I say it could well be the sign of an issue they may not be aware of (cats are notorious for hiding health problems).

Really? So only village folks can have dogs or cats, which I think are two of the best pets for what they give back to owners and the mental benefit that they can have on individuals/families.

Well, yes. Really. Of course it’s the only solution to dogs and cats pissing and shitting everywhere.

(I didn’t actually say I thougnt it was a good idea in other ways)

Shows how little I know about cats. Probably because I can't stand them lol

There's just something about them. I find them unnerving. Once when I was at university I was stalked home by a cat, it genuinely wouldn't let me in my house. I had to carefully step round it and get in the house, I slammed the door as it was fully leaping towards me. I just don't think me and cats will ever see eye to eye lol

This actually made me think of my own unpopular opinion:

Allowing a cat to roam is more cruel to other life and sometimes to the cat itself. Therefore all cats should be spayed or neutered with very few exceptions, and with the exception of farm cats or other rural cats that have a dedicated "job", all cats should be kept in houses as dogs are.

I know it’s a cat lol

I’ve got it on CCTV, and I wish it buried it but sadly it didn’t.

Also cats spray their piss everywhere too, you just probably blame dogs when they do.

I never said in the middle of the lawn but it certainly wasn’t buried and it’s more than once.

How do I find the owner of this mysterious cat?

I don't blame anyone for anything, I just let everyone get on with it. I brought up the dog pissing thing as a retort to the comments about cats, in reality I don't give a **** about either.

We have fat bigger problems with the disgusting things people do without worrying about animals having a dump.

Also if you're trawling through cctv looking for what shat on your lawn then you need a hobby lol

Eh? It's not an excuse at all, as a cat owner you can't keep an eye 100% of the time on where they are going in public, whereas with a dog on a walk you can. You say you're against house cats, but you expect the owner to be responsible for a cat shitting somewhere away from the house. Using your logic, I can't tell what the solution is. Take the cat on walks?

I don't see how an owner of a cat should be held accountable for where they are going. Obviously if a neighbour approaches to say that your cat is messing in their garden and they're unhappy with it then that is a different matter.

I meant for a dog owner there are excuses but not valid ones.

You could puts cats on leads, why should we have to put up with them vandalising our gardens?
