Good to see Tommy Robinson come out of prison early.

Eh? He repeated false allegations about somebody after being told not to by a judge. Surely nobody's naive enough to think that couldn't have horrendous consequences given the influence he has over the thickest people in the country.

Had the misfortune of meeting him in Lille at the Euros where he and his heavies tried to start on my brother for daring to use a bathroom where he was trying to, shall we say, conduct some business in private. Little fvcking rat.

Anyway, didn't take him long...

He is actually a dirty little hobbit rat. Always found it strange how supposed ‘men’ worship a creepy scoundrel who behaves like a wretch and drinks sh1te European lager.

Seen Nigel farage a few times at the new moon pub and at least he stands up straight, accentuates his words, looks you in the eye, is able to drink multiple pints of bitter and would rather die than touch a Madri.

Yes but I don’t think that justifies solitary confinement for effectively what it a libel charge

It was contempt of court and he wasn't in solitary confinement, he was moved to a closed wing, where he had his own laptop and gym, so he wouldn't get battered.

If you blindly get angry about Man City's 115 alleged charges you're slow.

They mostly relate to not reporting payment to players when FFP rules were completely different to almost a decade ago. They cheated and they should be punished but they've had their house in order for years now.

FFP rules are bollocks and I'm in favour of clubs delegitimising the whole thing. Our club are the only ones stupid enough to not circumvent the rules or stick within them.

Farage and Robinson both appeal to people that think the there is an urban liberal elite who are laughing at them. It's a kind of politics as revenge fantasy, a bit like communism. Beyond that I'm not sure there's much coherence behind their appeal.

Careful. I got banned from the General News thread for a much less accusatory and more milquetoast post of a similar vibe saying the right constantly saying the left and centre call them stupid all the time is a trap so they create a collective enemy to go after. See it all the time that “owning the libs” is more important for many of them than improving their lives or the deaths of people in overseas conflict.

Yeh I know politics is banned in this forum so I'm not discussing their ideology. But If you're under 6ft, call your wife 'the bird' or 'the missus' and she's on WeGovy, are unable to stomach a real British drink like ale hence resort to Madri and Peroni and buy clothes at M&S/Primark....I can see why you would have serious insecurities about your masculinity and get behind Farage.

I cannot see how you can justify your serious failings and inherent inadequacies as a British male by thinking Tommy Robinson is a hero.

How many of the above criteria qualify you to get behind Farage.

I don't drink Madri FYI.

All these people getting banned from gen chat I feel a bit left out. Clearly my takes are quite banal and not as scorching hot as I like to think.

MODS, ban them both

Madrid is as British a drink as you can get, other than the name, which is just branding/marketing. It was created in the UK by Coors and is brewed here too. Rumours are it's the old Carling 4.6% recipe.

I think it’s more about when you start explicitly saying things are right/centre/left they ban people rather than the hotness of takes. You can say absolutely anything political (everything is political after all) but as soon as you start saying certain opinions are of a certain place on the political spectrum, you get banned, regardless of how fiery the post was or wasn’t

It’s a strange system. All it does is cause the political chat to spill out into other threads anyway.

In the summer I agree. But it’s nice to get out of the winter and go somewhere warm. I don’t like the faff of the airport as I’ve got older

Out of the 5 factors, I would say 4 would gain my understanding in getting behind Farage.

If you mention 'the missus' more than twice in one continuous pub session, you are clearly totally emasculated and therefore immune from criticism of supporting Farage and in need of NHS help.

It's inoffensive bubbly European pop. Anything served cold and with loads of fizz is not British IMQHO

I would say 3, so I think I'm all good.

The irony that Farage is exactly the type of elite who will be laughing at the people he most appeals to. I have to say I admire his persistence at the grift and how he's cultivated the image of being the everyman's saviour.

One thing I find so weird is the blind loyalty. Farage and Reform MPs - and now councillors - could shit on their supporter's kids' Xmas pressies and they'd blame it on the left giving him a laxative.

Really smokes out the people who have zero knowledge of the nuance of the 115 charges. Several on this forum, too.

Also the time this has taken. Yes, because Man City have lawyered up and every single charge needs to be heard and adjudicated on. People seem to want this to happen in a three day trial. Come on now.

I think I’m banned from General News; I don’t have a reply option anymore anyway. I assume I’d have to contact the mods to change that?
