VLC86 Posted 29 November 2017 Posted 29 November 2017 I know I absolutely sound like a complete mentalist but just been out walking the dogs and I see a ridiculous explosion of light in the sky followed by a star/object flying across the sky about 10 mins ago in a Countesthorpe. Anyone else see it? Checked Twitter and people as far North as Cumbria and far south as Wellingborough.
leicsmac Posted 29 November 2017 Posted 29 November 2017 Gonna have to look more into this - possibly to do with the current meteor shower (the Geminids, I think) but for people to see it at dusk it must have been a particularly big one.

Search twitter for shooting star, sightings in Dublin. It was that bright I thought it was a firework.

Yeah, been having a look - seems to have been sighted across a lot of the UK as you said. Would be interested in some confirmation as to whether it was a tracked object or not - to burn up in a way that causes a flash of light like the one described at daytime/dusk you have to be talking about an object that's at least around 10m in size.
