What has changed in Leicester in the last several years?

There had been talk of the other flyover (just in front of Belgrave Gate) being knocked down too, but the amount of objections against any proposal sent that idea into the bin.

Still, that area is better but needs refreshing somewhat.

Given that the first knockdown has actually worked really well I did think myself they should do this.

No, but I should have done.

You earn your money, you spend it where you choose, and my idea of a night out isn’t dodging the parafins sitting in doorways.

Thanks I feel all warm inside. Merry Christmas!

Total shit hole sadly.

Full of tribal africans, boarded up shops and smack heads.

Very violent place and not a patch on what it was 20 years ago.

Right on

I moved away 6 years ago and very rarely come back but when I do, there seems to be more places to eat, more pedestrian areas in the City Centre but most of all, when I come back and go out in the evening with my mates, there does seem to be about 100 times the amount of really attractive women floating about.

You can smell cannabis pretty much everywhere

Also, people have unrealistically high expectations of their football team for some reason.

Heaven forbid you don’t visit Manchester or Birmingham. And Newcastle was as bad for homeless persons when I went up for City a few days ago.

Ah Leicester, the only city in England with homeless...

Seriously though, every city in England worth it's salt has homelessness. If it's a major urban centre with a noticeable retail or food & drink presence you'll get genuine homeless or those posing for a quick buck. It's in Birmingham, it's in Newcastle, it's in Nottingham, etc. I go to visit friends in Lincoln fairly often and that has just as many homeless of Leicester when it's three times smaller! It's a matter of fact in UK cities unfortunately.

Leicester has improved drastically over the years. It's far from perfect but it's getting better all the time and like Wookie said, should certain areas get a face lift it really could be quite something a few years down the line. Even now, whether it's been midday or 3am I've never been mugged by homeless or raided by 'Tribal Africans', or whatever you want to call people of other skin tones using the city centre and probably investing more than certain posters in this thread...
