Biodomes are fine by me as long as i can still get  a proper breakfast!

Ah... food...

Not sure how to break this, but...

Have you ever seen Soylant Green?

Cool. My old dear said they were also spending a load of money on re-vamping the Haymarket theater? - which is nice...

Not sure what's happening with the Haymarket theatre, there was talk of turning it into a cabaret venue. It became redundant when they built The Curve Theatre.

Ah O.K, I've not heard of The Curve Theatre.

I'm guessing the Phoenix theater must have closed at some stage then?

Bloody hell it's all change. You'll be telling me The Granby Halls is a car park next!

Can you imagine how cool ( and rat infested) it would be to break into there and have a look around?!?!?

Plenty of Bookies, Chinese Nail Bars, Charity Shops and all you can eat pidgeon located in the City Center. Oh and cycle lanes...lots of cycle lanes to accommodate the 15-20 cyclists that use them.

It's going to be an E-Sports arena I'm told.

The Phoenix Theatre was bought by Leicester College. The Phoenix is now situated behind the Curve and is a brilliant venue with the nearby LCB.

A lot of people are far, far too harsh on Leicester and the majority on here have described every city in this country.  The attention has dragged away from formerly Gallowtree Gate and now is at the top end of High Street. From the High St to the Lanes and through to St Martins is lovely. Even the former Pisshead Triangle of Goose/Molly's/Market Tavern is changing really quick.

On top of that it's good to see a lot of independents opening up. Leicester's first out and out craft beer bar has just popped up in St Martins Square. The beer being provided by local brewery Framework and the shop Brewklopedia.

it's much better than it was, as previously mentioned The Lanes, St. Martins square and the cathedral area is a really pleasant area now with a fair bit to do, eat and drink. There's still some shitholes but there's not really much of a reason to go to Gallowtree gate etc.

Additionally, I bet most of those complaining about town probably haven't been much recently.

Huh!?

  • Exorbitant parking charges which, because there is no road parking and the bus service is practically non-existent, is a de facto entrance fee.
  • They have opened a café.
  • There are regular concert performances by the ruins.

Charles Bennion must be spinning in his grave.

I think we hold the record for 0 or 1 star hygiene rated eateries from the health inspector.

I think the Mercury extended it to a 8 page pull out last year when covering them.

Total shit hole sadly.

Full of tribal africans, boarded up shops and smack heads.

Very violent place and not a patch on what it was 20 years ago.

Take it from a Londoner who only visits occasionally, it is NOT a total shit hole. London is a total shit hole.

I'm not from Leicester and go every few months, and it seems to have improved in recent years. But then I'm from the Fens where the mutants would be quite happy if a biodome was put over the place.

There are a lot of nice suburbs to live in with good house prices, you're within a few mins drive of the countryside, you've got some decent pubs and restaurants, crime is relatively low. I'd happily live in Leicester if I had to leave the south east.

I've moved out to Surrey now, apart from the house prices it's lush, I love it.

Gonna go full nerd mode and say I read about this earlier in the year and was proper excited.

I'd love it if we managed to get a decent e-sports arena filled for some of the big tourneys tbh.

Mum's side of the family from Sileby and all supported Leicester.

My accent caused skepticism in the title run in so I started carrying round an old Leicester vs Port Vale ticket I'd kept.
