It's been happening there since the 1980s at least.

One of the reasons why I head for the Salmon when I'm in that part of town.

When I said off I think a few have taken that as being a bad pint. Maybe poorly phrased from me, just meant it being out.

Moving to Stoneygate this week. Looking forward to being in very walkable distance to The Cradock, real ale classroom, Queens Road Tap and The Clarendon. Not to forget The Offie. Nearest ‘acceptable’ boozer to Western Park has always been the Black Horse- still a thirty minute walk.

Welcome !

The real ale classroom has a lot of hipster craft ale there, so I’m often limited to larger!

The offie is terrific, but very toppy on price,

The Cradock is great in the summer and the Everards beer and odd guest ale are generally well kept, if uninspiring…

They’re capable of both ‘off and off’ as a semi regular drinker there…

I’m ending up in the salmon more often

This is a good watch, it's almost like he got his recommendations from foxestalk! They thought Ale Wagon was the best place in town.

They don't seem to fit the stereotype of real ale drinkers under 40 whatsoever

Cheers ! Disappointing to hear you’re ending up in the Salmon. Since Alex has left I won’t bother much with the place.

Yeah that’s true, maybe I am being too harsh as Alex was so good as a landlord.

The Rutland & Derby didn’t need much of a refurb - if at all, certainly didn’t need this doing to it. Looks terrible in this photo

He’ll do the same to the Old Horse within a couple of years. I remember him butchering The King Richard a few years ago.

The King Richard was altered beyond belief.

Unique traditional town boozer turned into a pretentious attempt to attract diners.

Eating area next to the loo's  doomed to fail.

A bit more pub like now but will never regain the character it once had.

R&D completely copied Audley Public House in London. It’s laughable how similar the decor is

Their self promotion video name checks the style as "a top London boozer"so they've likely copied the style.

Personally feel we have too many "london style boozers" trying to be something they aren't in places that aren't London

Basically nearly all of our traditional Leicester boozers have either been turned into flats or ruined by being turned into copies of "top London boozers"

Rutland and derby absolutely fine following refurb. I hate London and the notion of pubs related to the place but, it was Cool as Leicester who suggested that, not The Rutland and Derby.

Don’t think any need to suggest it - the ceiling is a copy of Audley Public House

Maybe true but I would say probably 99% of people in Leicester do not know who/what/where Audley Public House is.
