Went in Babelas before Christmas last year and thought it was pushing as good as it's ever been, three varied cask, nice staff, good crowd.

Went in on Sat, all three cask off, Guinness off. Whole bar area looked like the place was about to close down. Staff still friendly enough and I'd go back, hope it was just an off day

I’m semi regular there…. I’ve never seen the beer off before, so hopefully a one off

Yeah brother it didn't strike me as indicative of how it usually is but walking in to see all three cask clips turned around and glasses over the handles of loads of draft options didn't look great on a Saturday aha

Anywhere good for wine in town?

Got a mate over from Bochum for the Cov game and he works in import/export of high end wine and spirits.

I went for dinner at Veeno with the Mrs who loves a wine and even for me, not much of a wine lover, they did have some nice ones that we tried.

Edit - just realised the thread, not really a pub lol

Went to Rutland and Derby, Black Horse and Duffy’s tonight.

All had a solid amount in for Leicester on a Thursday.

What's Rutland and Sheepshaager like.  Have they got any decent craft beers?

It’s not one I like really, it’s done by that fella that does pubs for deanos well.

I nipped in and a mate had me a pint waiting for me so couldn’t say on the beer

I'm sure you've seen off the beer many times.

They have a few Everards craft. Keg stuff was flat when I last went and cask is very inconsistent.

Would be nice if Everards could do some Leicestershire guest themed beers, rather than going through all the American states for names.

Langton have always been pretty good for LE16 themed beers. Inclined Plane, Caudle etc.

Yeah they do, as do Round Corner and I’m a sucker for Mill Hill because it’s all Leicester/Leicestershire themed.
Everards are bringing out a couple of guests every month- there’s nothing Leicestershire/Leicester themed. The branding and marketing all looks like it’s done by AI.

I love my American ipa's...Spoons have their festival on at the moment.....Alesmith IPA is a great pint if you can find it in Spoons.6%......It's £6 a can on Beer merchants.....so £1.99 a pint is great!

I’ve been to their brewery a few times as you save quite a £ over shop prices…. They have a big Xmas market that runs every year….

inclined plane is superb

 try Rainbow Bridge too
