Had a pint in the Ribs of Beef for my birthday in Norwich. Great place for a crawl prior to being in Southwold over the weekend.

Really chuffed that the Forresters is giving it a go. Always sad that I missed that crawl round Frog Island/Woodgate and into town by a bout ten years.

Crafty Dog on Braunstone Gate is pretty hideous. You know it’s full of wronguns because if they weren’t , they’d be in Nine Bar or the Black Horse.

The cluster to the north of the city centre along Humberstone Gate are comfortably the worst

Royal Oak (Belgrave Gt) is bad, nothing redeeming at all rather than outright rough. Shit and tired decor, poor selection and weird atmosphere.

Skandals - wtf

Fountain is the best of those but still not great

Hansom Cab is probably much better post refurb and still probably shit

The Hind is rubbish and a big waste of what could be a great pub, Barley Mow wasn't exemplary before but it's absolutely shot now.

Yeah it was passable but now it really is the pits, really quiet too.

Doing a few up London Rd and maybe Queens Rd tomorrow night. Will try and get to the Old Horse to see that post all the work.

Loaded Dog was £6.10 for bog standard lager, is that where we are now!?

Old Horse - After the refurb it is not my vibe at all but plenty were in it. Not a fan of any of the chaps pubs in Leicester - Forge, R&D and now the Old Horse. I can appreciate it it would be to others taste though, just I feel he rips out character of the places.

Marquis - Solid pub, not many in which is a shame but it's hands down the best on the street now for me.

The Hind - Odd place but I do have a soft spot for it. As others have said it has so much potential due to the position, layout, beer garden etc. It just never gets utilised really.

The Hind is such a funny pub. Only go there when I am meeting friends off the train. Sometimes the cask is some of the worst I’ve ever had but if you’re lucky you’ll get a drinkable theakstons.

Ale Wagon and the Castle are the only two I’d frequent if they were in other cities.

I’ve gone off lager almost entirely which whittles down the options to almost nothing in town. Tonne is occasionally fine but more often than not they have 7 near identical craft options

I would argue that its full of characters, something thats lacking in most pubs nowadays.

Reasonable prices too.

I would argue it’s full of the wrong kind of characters and the beer selection is abysmal.

I know lots who drink in there and it’s remarkable it’s still there but ****ing hell it’s dreadful inside.

Similarly the Blackbird is a soulless pub of just sizzler nothing

Keeper’s Lodge up at Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre. Another remarkable place

Went to a wake there recently, the interior wasn’t as dingy as expected but the locals were just as I imagined

The Manor/Stirrup Cup, Thurnby Lodge & respective Lodge Bars on Aylestone/Saffron Lane

Lounge?

I like the safety afforded by the lack of doors on the toilets as well as the sloping stainless steel tops to the porcelain.
