Nine Bar have some great local food pop up’s down there.

They try really hard to do things differently which you can't say lots of Leicester bars/pubs do. Tricky area as well but they make it work

The Rutland is a great pub but very woke

In what way?

Not trying to start a political debate, just curious.

Was just going by the signs and paraphernalia around the pub and the clientele, didn't know about the events but I can imagine.

As a pub I love it though.

Went Hopology on Queens Road - the pizza's are the true winners. Had some very expensive Cloudwater on tap.

Not very warm. Babelas is the undisputed QR #1 for me. Full of charm

Which makes me wonder why they bothered turning their successful pizza joint into a half arsed micro-pub in the first place? Its like a cafe inside too, zero ambience. The Tap is always ridiculously cold and without music the lack of ambient noise is a real turn off.

Babelos wins hands down on QR for nice gaff, nicest pints and nicest atmosphere.

But I'd much rather drink in The Classroom on Allandale - a proper micro pub serving superb drinks and always, always rammed.

I spoke to the owner when I. Went in and he said the finances just don’t stack up to do pizzas full time, especially in light of NI+MW increases.

As a bland craft beer place it doesn’t have much of a future either, needs more decorative features

They’ve switched back pretty much now they realised the Pizza was the real pull.

At first there was no pizza at all. Then they went to Friday and Saturdays only. Now it’s most of the week.

I’m no fan of Babelas. Think the landlord is bit of a plum but that stretches back to post Covid when he was still insisting on rules after they had all been stopped.

I know it’s very Deano but I’m a fan of the Clarendon because it maintains that traditional pub feels just about

I like the Clarendon, decor not to my taste buts it’s always vibrant and the cask selection is good. A rare Leicester pub goof for watching sport too

Further out than Leicester but had a nice couple of pints is staropravon or whatever it’s called with the wife in The Royal Oak in Bitteswell the other week. Nice pub and recently done out by the looks of it
