We are a top 8 side which  is astounding considering where we come from and our intire history. The whole world witnessed the huge gulf there is from the top six yesterday.

I have a friend who is from Leicester but supports West ham....

At the time we were in the playoffs and the whole of Leicester was buzzing.

At the time West ham were sitting Eight for the 3rd season running and he couldn't geed up for the games, he actually said it's more exciting in the promotion scrap....

However I would like my team to play the best clubs in England but I suppose it's a two sided coin ???

It certainly can. I suppose it depends if you’re enjoyable to watch, if you’re finishing 7/8/9th and playing good stuff I suppose it’s not so bad.

I understand your point, it’s been such a roller coaster supporting City and I go way back to the Jock Wallace days, yes there have been dull periods but on the whole we are an exciting club to support (off the field, not always on it) lol becoming an established Premier League team which finishes mid table every season may seem dull to some, familiarity breeds contempt!

My point entirely,

I love puels brand of football and look forward to games thinking we are actually better than the other team.

The summer transfer window is all important, but I'm  very excited about what he can build here...

That's why this clubs number one aim should be to win the FA Cup. That's the missing gem for us all.

FA Cup should prioritise over anything else.

If we have the right attitude then anything is possible look at our title win.

I want us to compete for trophies and play in Europe we have the ability to do. If we keep our best players and improve on our first team, the likes of Silva, Iborra, Dragovic are players who can play at the Europa League level. The likes of Mahrez and Vardy are good enough for a Champions League team imo.

We as a club are at a cross roads, the priority should be to be in the Europa League next season.

Remember jock Wallace and promotion, got on the pitch from the family enclosure the day we won....

I also remember the song,

For those unfamiliar, it went....

Champions we are and champions we be

We see the city on to Victory

With jock Wallace as our leader we go right to the top

And hear the boys a singing as we shout it from the kop!!!

Ahh nostalgia ??

People on here saying 7-8th is boring..!!! Strange in This era we were never in This Position before.

IMO, ITS great we have this year consilidated, and Changed slightly our Style,+ some of our 1st teamers.

This has been,a top year for us,If anybody thinking Otherwise ,they seriously want their sporting head

Examined, even if we Slip to 10th.though that would be a little of a disappointment.

If the Next 2-5 seasons,we Finish under the top 9,Playing good Football, with the Odd 2-4 catastropies

of Games, and some AVG.If we compete for awhile and Dreams of top 5,but Fall Off,and have

some top Cup runs, I'll be more than Happy. Yes I am ambitious for more, but let us us say Puel

is Here for 6+ seasons, then we would have/See some good seasons.

Before Vardy Retires,I would Love to see him lift the FA Cup,wearing the foxes badge.

Any Higher ambitions,Shows why we must See,hold Out for 70+Mil for Mahrez,

then,Splash Out 3-4 Times ca the Same,to find and get, players of the highest caliber,

that are willing to come, for high but average wages.Hoping then to mesh with the

Puels new youngsters ethos.Thats the reality,it depends in what the owners want to

Shell Out. When they targetted a top 6 Finish, the finances we're totally different,do

they or anyone Else still have that clout!!!??  Or even willing now to throw Out the even

more ridiculous Fees and wages..

Now Even the fans have to Stop and think, about what they should expect from their

Club's owners. It could be the wise Heads of People Like Puel, that might be the way,Invest

in youth from all corners, hoping 3-5 gems can be found with still a good Potential future

turnaround over 4-6 seasons, that can counter Balance  the big Spenders...

I dont want my club to compete financially, with the MCs,Chelseas,Manus of the world.

One reason I still Hope to see Spurs,do well spite their  'pathetic fighting cock forum'.

If we can get near their finances, that would be fine, but London clubs Just have that

obvious Financial and Player draw, fullstop!

I don't sense mediocrity. Last seasons end was flat, playing Bournemouth for a top half place and a few million quid extra prize money is not something to look forward to year in year out. Our current battle for 7th has brought a focus to the season, we look out for Burnley, Everton and Bournemouth's results and hope the cups are won by the top four clubs (or us) and the F.A. Cup has been kind with the draws so far. Europa league next year, Cup Final this year perhaps, an eye on replacing Everton as traditional best of the rest for the long term, hardly mediocre. it's just the problem that the players of the required standard to achieve those things will become targets of the higher clubs requiring a combination of a firm stance (the owner regarding Mahrez) and a reliable source of new blood (N'Didi, Silva, Diabate and Maguire). After winning the league it's always going to be hard to reach such levels of excitement, Champions League run was one way, an even longer run in Europa or an F.A. Cup would write memorable new chapters.

But what's the alternative? As amazing as our title win was, I don't see anyone breaking into the top six anytime soon without oligarch investment. Everton spent £150 million and look nowhere near the 7th placed team they were last season. 7th is probably our limit for the forseeable future.

Being a yo-yo club is not fun. You remember the promotion races but what about the relegation battles? This place and the ground was in despair three years ago when at the bottom of the table for months. Last season was hardly enjoyable until March.

This league season is like the O'Neill league seasons. You go back and look at our results during his time and you'll see us beating or drawing with top sides, getting thumped by them, beating the lesser teams but also throwing in an awful defeat or two. The trophies masked an inconsistent league team.

Is 8th place in the top flight really mediocrity in any case? We wanted to be a comfortable Premier League team for years, now we are heading that way and we've got calls for the manger's head. Strange.

I think you're right that it will be near on impossible to break top 6. As soon as we start looking like we're moving in the right direction city unsteady us by bidding for Mahrez on deadline day. And same will happen with Maguire and Ndidi in time. We try to build a squad that can try and compete with the top 6 and then we just get dismantled. Kante, Drinky and soon to be Mahrez and eventually Maguire and Ndidi like I said. As much as the owners are good and don't want to sell our players, Drinkwater and Mahrez are proof that we just can't hold onto our best players. Vardy is an exception as hes been very loyal to us. It is a shame and same has happened to Southampton and even Everton are the same (Lukaku and Barkley)

If you consistently finish in the top 6 you don't have players wanting to move on to 'bigger and better things'. Getting there is really hard and requires lots of money but we seem to have rather a lot of that.

We need to win another major trophy, get into Europe and expand our stadium to be taken seriously by our top players.

As for a few consecutive mid table finishes, it wasn't boring under O'Neill but we had cup finals and European exploits and the sense that we were playing at our absolute limits every season.

Where it will get boring is too many games like yesterday and Everton and Watford where we end the game feeling frustrated not at the result but at the manner of the performance. If this season peters out the way Southampton's did last season then I will be very disappointed.
