If anyone is watching the Wednesday v Swansea game at the moment they'd realise how well we played yesterday. This is boring. Swansea are looking so bad that without their injured players they may start to struggle again in the Prem after loking so impressive. Give me the winer of this in the next round.

I am not convinced he'll ever be a succesful fullback at this level.

He needs someone behind him for sure. The alarming rate of lapses and poor decisions in his own third tells me he's not suited to play there for us if we want to achieve top 10 finishes.

I'm not a fan of his defensive lapses. And I'd prefer Fuchs at LB against the  top 10 teams. But I see no reason to write him off at 21. Players at 21 do improve. The assumption he just won't makes you sound like a cynical mystic meg.

Partticularly defensively.

Mahrez comp

Seems that Mahrez has remembered his great skill is the pass. He is one of the greatest passers of the ball in the world, but for the last 18 months or so he seems to think he's one of the greatest dribblers. Those early passes and long pinpoint passes are the magic that we need. Leave the dribbling to Gray.

Indubitably!

I think those two Mahrez-furore weeks distracted the lads - especially when they came up against the 'villains-of-the-piece' at their ground.

It's been a bit like the the line from the Mock Turtle's song in 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' #Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?# substituting the "you" for 'he' - the 'he' being Mahrez.

Seems to me 'Mardy' needs to be pampered and cosseted and told that he's loved. I wonder if Claude sent him some roses and chocs last Wednesday?

Ribbing aside, If he can settle down now in the knowledge that the possibility of some further glory awaits at Leicester and he can seek his fortune elsewhere come summer, then we might get back the chap we saw last in 2015-16.

Bu the mutual problem remains for him and Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha - is he consistent enough to warrant that £90m price? A Bentley which keeps breaking down might look superb but who'll buy it if it don't go nowhere? Maybe, his dreams of glory aside, City might just about be his 'barra'. Sorry, Riyad and sorry fan-boys :D.

There's a lot of expectation centred around the team since '15-'16. If we hadn't won the Premier would the blaming and criticism be as vociferous as it is now. Maybe it's the society we live in - I've heard the term "instant gratification" expressed frequently in terms of the 'e-youth' of today. City win - then they've done what they're supposed to have done - they lose and they're "rubbish", "crap" and "tossers". That's not support - it's expectation and entitlement.

As to the trees up the road and the sheep grazing down the road from them - I've enjoyed their term of exile and mediocrity. But it's more than a pity there aren't more Cloughs and Taylors operating in English football today. For all the glitz of foreign managers, backed by huge funding and motivated by short-term success, those two and the boot-room men at Liverpool and Busby and Ferguson wouldn't be amiss in today's game.

Are you my Long,lost brother..??

Its quite comforting,to read Your Posts, clossetting many of my thoughts,Not that we always

Agree,but damn Close...

Even when we Go Off on rants, we tend to shoot from the same gun, even when the Odd Shot

Goes awry.....We are the Cloughie and Taylor,Duo of this Forum, and Like of their time...

Very underrated...

2 points for me but your point is valid. However I saw enough openings in the first half to suggest we would get a goal.

1) Players getting use to it and some players simply can’t do it.

2) Sheff Utd played 3-5-2 what pretty much ended up 5-4-1. Which isn’t usuallly what we will come against even against the lower sides.

Only a personal opinion, and don’t know what you think, but I was hoping we would match them up with 3-5-2 second half.

I personally would have took Simpson off, and brought on silva for his movement, and inter linking play and his energy would probably have created more space and clear cut chances.

Again I’m not complaining as we got the result, but I think playing that system the scoreline would have been more comfortable.

Agree though, we had enough chances, and despite everything I said, it could and should have been 3-0 if the finishing was sharper.

Either way, we got the result and into the next round, but not that convincing, but we definitely need to step up the performance and intensity against better teams.

Suggest you stay at home thought a good game and no Leicester player had a bad game.

Haha, Sheff United score the chance that Kasper saved and you're on here ranting saying how poor we were #fickle

I said I don't believe he will ever be good enough for us in that position if we aspire to be top 10.

I'm aware he's still young and he does offer something to the team. I'll be happy for him to prove me wrong and become the next Danny Rose.

Don't think there are many 21 years old left backs in Europe let alone the Premiership that are the finished article ready to compete at the very highest level. If there are, you won't be seeing any of them at Leicester! Why are you suprised at his mistakes? Ndidi, Gray, Iheanacho, Maguire,  they're all going to make them as sure as eggs is eggs! They're all learning on probably the fastest most physical and unforgiving stage there is. Danny Rose is 27, don't remember much of him at 21. Harry Kane 24yrs, was he the perfect striker at 21? Mistakes are amplified as a defender I any case as a defender, particularly when as a kid you're asked to compete against some of the best players in Europe!

The alternative of course is to close the academy and just buy in older seasoned top quality Champions League ready players but let's see, there's a bit of a flaw there,  we can neither afford them and neither would they want to come.

Chilwell for me is on track and there's a reason Klopp coveted him. Forgive his lapses more and try to embrace the opportunity you have of witnessing some very talented youngsters trying to make their way in the game. The reason why we make more mistakes than certain other teams is because we're not Barcelona or Manchester City and we shop in different markets for our players, it's the way of the game.

True, he could do better elsewhere. It's just a pity we've got wingers coming out our arse. He'd be fourth choice when Mahrez leaves, behind Albrighton, Gray and Diabate and maybe even Barnes if he makes the first team again.

Apologies if my comment irks or offends, but some of you are reading way too much into it.

I know he's young, I expect mistakes and I haven't written him off as a useful squad player at all.

However, I still feel he's better suited further forward, i.e. in a wingback or Albrighton role.

In my head, Chilwell is at a similar defensive level as Schlupp (who was never comfortable at fullback).

Chilwell is better going forward, but he's not extraordinary.

It's not up to me to decide whether or not to give academy players a chance or buy reinforcements.

I want to see a local lad come through as much as the next, but you similarly cannot expect academy players to achieve the club's ambitions if they're not performing within a reasonable amount of time.

I think Chilwell's application on the pitch is really good and there's some talent there, but how good are people realistically expecting him to become?

I don't see why he cannot overtake Albrighton and I've not seen enough of Barnes or Diabaté to make a judgement. Fair to say he's ahead of both for the left winger spot currently by virtue of his playing time.

I do agree with you to the extent that I too see him more as a wing back rather than an out and out full back like Simpson. There again, many on here slag Simpson off for not being able to get forward enough, yet Ranieri, Shakespeare and now Puell value him for what he gives.

Somewhere in the back of my head I've read that Puell prefers wing backs and in that scenario I think Chilwell will survive well and eventually shine. We'll know a little more i feel at the end of the summer what the managers intentions are!

You are right that we have had players that have flattered to deceive ,  Schlupp and Mattock in that position to name but two. My prediction is that Chilwell will come good and we'll lose him for a good fee eventually (head on block), after all, if Walker can go to Man City for 50m, there's plenty of hope for almost anyone!
