Chilwell's defensive work needs improvement but his offensive work is already fantastic at 21. His runs forwards were some of the best we had yesterday. And he proved he can cross. If we help him improve his defensive work we could have one of the best left backs in the league. We've had him since a kid, we have lower league teams which we've loaned him out to raving about him and we've seen him improve. It would seem short sighted to discount his ability to transform into a better player now.

I am not convinced he'll ever be a succesful fullback at this level.

He needs someone behind him for sure. The alarming rate of lapses and poor decisions in his own third tells me he's not suited to play there for us if we want to achieve top 10 finishes.

I thought we played well but boy do we have some impatient fans. We knocked it around and eventually the goal was going to come. They were well organised, so we just had to be patient and wait for the quality to shine through.

Whilst being comfortable for the majority of the game, do you not think we were pedestrian in our approach.

I like the new style, but I think we need to be able to speed things up at times, especially against sides who sit in like Sheffield did last night.

The only problem I see when we play slow football, it becomes predictable and easy to defend, and against better teams, with the football ability of some of our players, we are prone to giving the ball away cheaply, and getting caught on the break ourselves, it happened quite a few times last night, but Sheffield didn’t have the quality to capitalise.

At times nacho and mahrez played some quick 1- 2’s, and managed to create openings, so yes with this new style fans need to be patient, but the players also need to liven it up more at times.

17th Feb, at 8pm!

The quarter-final draw will be staged live on BT Sport, the BBC Sport website and Radio Five Live, following Manchester United’s fifth round tie at Huddersfield (5.30pm).

Here are those all important numbers for the other teams.

Michael Owen and Shay Given will pull out the balls.

Thought it was an okay game, but we should have put away a lot more of our chances. One thing i can't work out though, what's the point of having the game on a friday evening if it's not going to be aired on the tv, why not just have it on the saturday or sunday at 3 o clock.

I'll try not to get you wrong :sweating:.

I think you got me wrong . I consider they're strong favourites (theoretically - we all know the shocks and surprises football hands out) to appear in the final of both domestic Cups. I agree that they've already won the league - even earlier than we did! So they can coast a little on that front. The Champions League is going to be their main focus - got to be - it's their best chance yet of picking it up.

I guess Guardiola is panicking a bit though, about the stress and strain of the rest of their campaign - their knee-jerk reaction to Sané's injury was to try and filch Mahrez. That they weren't prepared to pay what City were asking indicates to me that they were in two minds - get him cheap and they have a useful sub to reinforce the squad or just leave it. It's not the money with Man City - I think it was arrogance mixed with a feeling that they could probably do 'it' anyway without reinforcing the squad. Interestingly Sané is on the mend a lot quicker than they thought :(.

I didn't see the game last night - I watched the BBC highlights. Lots of chuntering on here about the less than emphatic win. But, once again Mahrez and Vardy cut their defence wide open - twice. They can do that against any team - including Man City. I think that 5 -1  defeat was affected by the confusion about the rest of the season and the media frenzy. Footballers, as in any other sports, need 100% confidence and focus. I suspect, during those two weeks, a lot of the lads were getting 'tapped-up' by the media as to where Mahrez was and what his intentions might be. Now that's all (apparently) settled for the time being - we might see City back at their best. Like we used to say when Bloomfield's boys strode out on the pitch - on their day they could literally beat any team. it was just if they were up for it. This current team is different - they're already winners and they're a very determined bunch.

Nicely put and I really hope you are right. :appl:

Sheffield Utd play on Tuesday so Friday gave them more recovery time. Best all round for both clubs.

Not sure I saw Chilwells crossing last night or anyone else to be fair. But if he wants to be a defender then that needs to be priority no more excuses and promises just do the job well.

You whined about Friday night when that was the only time available - today is out because tigers are at home, tomorrow because Sheffield United play Tuesday. Something thats been said repeatedly since the draw was made a fortnight ago...

Thanks for clarifying that mate! There's only so much I could take from some random I think American highlights! Good to know, I'm guessing some doom and gloom was unwarranted then?

As before though. As long as we're through!

Frustration was warranted, so often we got to 25 yards and tried to force it through only for it to be cut out and cleared. But, they lined up nominally 4-5-1, played at times more like 5-5-0. Anyone thinking we might lose it, if thats what the doom and gloom was, was absurdly pessimistic

Not the most inspiring game to have the pleasure of watching, but a win is a win and a place in the next round. Chilwell worries the hell out of me, made far too many simple mistakes or made the wrong decision. Needs to step it up.

I did notice that when we scored Vards never went over to Mahrez and vice versa. Wonder if Vards is annoyed with Mahrez about the saga?

Getting through is most important and we did that, the game wasn't exciting but we had the upper hand for most of it. Very well-worked goal.

Hope we have another home game in the next round.

2 points for me but your point is valid. However I saw enough openings in the first half to suggest we would get a goal.

1) Players getting use to it and some players simply can’t do it.

2) Sheff Utd played 3-5-2 what pretty much ended up 5-4-1. Which isn’t usuallly what we will come against even against the lower sides.

Shit game, we were shit, they were competent but not at all dangerous. Still, we won while being shit showing how we've come on, and our centre midfield looks so much stronger now

Suggest you stay at home thought a good game and no Leicester player had a bad game.

Thanks for clarifying that, nice to not get shouted at.

Apologies for shouting, it was only done for vaguely comic emphasis. You were, after all, about the 20th person to ask about this.
