Yeah you do need to be careful, but thankfully there are a few tells, and thankfully the one in Coalville seems to stock the real stuff as well.

As you say one is the writing on the bottle neck, also if you look at the label the Czech stuff will say 'Imported and distributed in the UK by Molsen Coors' whereas the UK version will say brewed in the UK. The bottle lids are different as well and apparently the barcode on the Czech bottles starts with 859 as opposed to 50 if it's the Burton version.

Big fan of Budvar as well, but agree that Pilsner Urquell's the best, just wish you could get it on tap reguarly!

Not sure whether to trust someone called skolfoxes on subject of beer...

They do some interesting stuff at the brewery and then they just almost never distribute it in their pubs? The tank lager is excellent and quite unique yet they won't do anything with it. Their lack of guest beers is rubbish too, if they reciprocated with other breweries they'd managed to shift more of their own gear.

They definitely do and I enjoy buying the odd can from the shop there. However, they are mostly underwhelming variations of the same IPA/NEIPA with really stupid American names. Occasionally they’ll have one on as guest at the globe or somewhere similar. I’d be all over them if I could buy a pint of ‘Western Park’ or take more inspiration from the Mill Hill style- Leicester themes.

Not beer related but can some clever bloke or lady explain why every greene King Pub has always a bucket under one of the urinals in the gents.  Is it to catch the dregs to serve later?

This thread history is proving most useful in planning our trip to London next week. Will be in Marylebone for the first time in a few years, and a return visit to the Barley Mow is already planned. Thanks to all who have made other suggestions!

Off to Worcester this weekend so have been trawling through this thread.   Got Plough, Weavers, Paul Pry and Dragon Inn listed.  Any more recommendations?

@Bordersfox- sounds like you are bit of an expert.   Do you have any restaurant recommendations?  Your post about hot sauce shop sounds like it is worth a visit too!

Worcester is the loveliest city. Unfortunately due to in laws, I have to spend a lot of time near Ledbury. Worcester is the superior city, to Hereford and Gloucester.

Do go and see King John. Probably my favourite Monarch's tomb in England.

Apologies I've not been as regular on the forum recently.

Weavers is good from the station if you travel by train.  Plough is an absolute gem of a boozer. Copenhagen street has both Oil Basin and a Belgian beer bar that are great.  They are close to the Plough and on the way from Weavers if that's your first stop.

Firefly is in the opposite direction, still 5m from the centre and is the best boozer from a purely 'beer' perspective and is always well supported.

If you want character then head to Charles II or Cardinals hat.  Fantastic beamed boozers, they'll have a decent cask selection but nothing exciting particularly.

The Dragon is known for Guiness if that's your bag, it's not mine so I've not been but supposed to be a nice gaff.

There's others as well. A really underrated place to go drinking.

Food wise depends what you are after! The oil basin and Belgian place have a guy between them that does pizzas.  Bubbles the wine bar does really nice small plates.  There's a Turkish grill called Anatolian Palace that's good.

For brunch Waylands Yard opposite Weavers is excellent but gets very busy.  Sweet Greek also good for lunch and coffee.  If you are looking for any specific cuisine DM.

Fantastic stuff,  thanks guys.

I'll try to remember to post which pubs and foodies I went to at end of the weekend but I'll say one thing for now.   Paul Pry, what a gem of a little pub if you are drinking in the main triangular area.

It looks like Sheffield on Monday might be a case of what's open sadly.

Any Belfast recs much appreciated.

Both games there this season have suffered this.

A pint of Lukas which is the Bavarian style Helles that Thornbridge do. Had it at the Hallamshire House in Sheffield but there was a wake on so felt a bit of fool being in there.

Good stuff that is. I had it up that way when my bro was working in Tunnel Tap.
