I’ve said the same even when we won the league it didn’t feel like our team as this one did. These were blokes you could still bump into in a pub and share a drink with.

What a first 15 minutes!

Watched it in a pub and my brother and dad turned up 20 mins after kick off

Watched this in my local in Stockport with my son. When it got to HT he pointed to a guy on the other side of the bar and said "I reckon that's Martin O'Neil's brother". "Nah", said I, "you're having me on". He said "i've been watching him, not just his looks, but watch his mannerisms". So I did, and was convinced, and went over to speak to him at FT.

 

Sure enough, it was his brother, lived round the corner from me. Had to buy him a drink, had a chat, saw him at a few matches that followed. He disappeared after 2 years so i guess he must have moved on.

 

What a day that was. Looking at the video I was struck by Guppy's pinpoint cross with his right foot, having been described in a thread yesterday as being totally one-footed.

 

Yes, i agree with someone else's comment that you felt you knew and felt affection for every member of that squad. For years after that the feeling was barren, and it took a few years for Pearson to grow that again, but I think the O'Neil squad still just pips our Prem winners on that score.

I suppose the last memorable one was van Persie's vs Spain which was almost 4 years ago now.
