  1. 1. Should Claude Puel be sacked or backed?

    • Sack him NOW.
    • Keep him and back him in the transfer window.

I was a puel in up until the palace and west ham game but I don't get his tactics or his leadership - not communicating with the players when arnotovic was injured. He won't be here next season I just worry who we'll get. Also who want the job?

I was in the same boat as you and probably "abandoned ship" the same time as you after the Palace game.

It's obvious there is a barrier between him and the players when both sides ignored each other and no consultation with each other when Arnautovic got injured. Puel is a dead man walking and he knows it to. I'm 99% confident he'll be sacked within a few days of the season ending. If the players have no faith in him then he has to go and I think everyone at the club knows he's gone within the next 10 days.

I fear the damage to squad and terrace faith and morale is irrepairable now . I stayed for " the lap " out of habit and patriotism and to applaud the owners, rather than a backing Puel notion.

Totally embarrassing for everyone present .

I suspect he'll get the next two games, if only to add another couple of nails into the coffin and to make it seem he was given a chance after the recent vote of confidence.

I'll be there for arsenal - getting behind whatever team is fielded ( whether its deserved or not is another matter ) . . But i feel that any chance or redemption has long since passed

We need to keep him and give him the start of the new season to bring in players to play his way.

Please can tell you me why people are out now was not a few weeks ago nothing as changed since then. the injury list as not help him at all.

If you said start of season mid table finish and two quarter finals in both cup losing one on pen and the other one in extra time to better teams than us you would be happy with it.

Yes, it's obvious -  even to a dullard like me. But there's something inherently flawed about this over-close identification with the club - because it gives the impression that we're somehow involved in the decision making process. We follow the team and take what we're dished out - but we're very much like the plebeians at the Roman games (although they got in for free). We're there to create atmosphere and (mostly) encourage the team. We're there to buy the merchandise - which is nice advertising for the King Power brand. And, of course, we're there to provide extra income in gate fees.

If the Sris (and every other club in the Prem) decided to let us in for free then they could double the attendance and make a packet from the merchandise - which is vastly over-priced for what it is.But we're powerless to really influence the Club. This over-identification also leads to meaningless barney's on this Forum. Until we get some control of the way this club is run then it's going to continue to be a rich man's plaything.

I recall a conversation I had with a mate a few years ago. He told me his son was a big Leeds fans - season-ticket, away matches, new strip whenever it came out etc. He told him - "You may love Leeds United, but Leeds United doesn't give a f**k about you.

It's a one-way relationship and I don't think it does any of us any good to forget that. Not that I'm any different - I was in the shop yesterday looking at replica shirts until I looked at the prices. I love Leicester City as much as the next fan but not to the detriment of my soul.

I get the feeling @Gerbold you are a very intelligent and articulate person and although I’m a thick bastard I wholeheartedly agree with you on this

Don't whatever you do consider buying the green and gold away kit circa 1984-86. Incredibly people have, they clearly don't know the history.

So did I. Then if you travelled away you'll know we never won in it.

Yes as I say I know it was a very unlucky kit

think we beat Chelsea away in the cup in it but went out on aggregate? I think anyway

I don't subscribe to the notion of "luck". More to do with the fact that we didn't travel well at the time. Saying that, I'd never purchase one because it reminds me of so many miles and disappointments.

Yeah I agree re not travelling well at the time etc

love the kit strangely though even though it’s associated with a poor spell away etc

Hah! My missus bought me one when they were introduced as the back-up kit (psst - I never wore it!). That was a medium - I'm now an extra-large :(.

How? kit sales weren't in existence then. I hankered after the blue Inde Coope home kit at the time and harassed Muggeridge and Kevin McDonald to get me one who I knew well through a contact at the club. Impossible.

I do however empathise with you, when I was a teen I was a borderline anorexic punk. Where the **** do man boobs and visceral fat come from? I've gone from Ormondroyd to GTF overnight. How is this possible? - I'm still ridiculously active (removing pizza from oven and sixth tin of Kronenbourg from the fridge).

I run 80-100 miles a month to keep In trim but I’m still a large to extra large these days as a 47 year old. Time just gets to us all bud

I'm still backing him. His record proves he needs time. Man City proved that a title-contender team could take a couple of years and look where they are now.

The problem is that the fans are letting the PL win get to their heads.

No, they aren’t, and no, that isn’t the problem. The problem is the manager is awful and we will only get worse under him.

Anything else is just nonsense.

And the inevitable Kitchandro post sweeps in like an Atlantic depression.

Sorry, argue against that then.

It’s got nothing to do with the title win and you know it.

Honestly, that attitude people give me on here despite the fact I am constantly proved right is astonishing.

Learn when to accept defeat.

I wasn't disputing your post...rather your inevitable arrival like a month of incessant rain and overcast skies.

I actually agree with you. It doesn't need reiterating though.

think if performances were better there would be more support for him to continue as manager, but on the pitch they arent there, tactics, team selection and results....all 3 of late have been compete and utter trash

You forgot that at least 6 important players are injured, so he doesn't have much of a choice. You could argue that he could bring up youngsters for the rest of the season but he's trying to get some results now.

The results are incredibly poor even with a team on holiday.

Puel is obviously far from perfect. And you can argue we should give him more of a chance. But I worry about our team dynamic.

Our Premier League winning tactics were forced -- wisely -- on our manager by the team and Morgan.

Our team decided when Ranieri had to leave - just look at the the lack of team celebration in Seveille first leg.

Our team were very enthusiastic about Shakespeare coming in.

Our current team and Puel's tactics are hardly in union.

If we sack Puel, we may get another manager and the same problems. And that will lead to nothing but relegation.

I'm not 100% sure we should sack him but I'm fairly sure we have deeper problems. I'd pay good money to have that sports Psychologist Ranieri sacked rehired.

Not sure performances were much better with these important players.

He should have tried getting good results in the Man City cup game and played his strong side that were fit! And played to the players strengths rather than there weaknesses!
