Nick Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 Anybody else wondering if we are just waiting for Huddersfield’s position to be resolved before approaching their manager? We know it’s been widely reported that Wagner was Rudkin first choice prior to CP’s appointment...
Popular Post Fox92 Posted 5 May 2018 Popular Post Posted 5 May 2018 (edited) I'd rather go for Hughton (if we're looking at PL managers). Edited 5 May 2018 by Fox92 6
davieG Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 Surely based on the foxestalk massive we should be aiming for someone better

Alf Bentley Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 (edited) I've no idea, but would quite like it to be true. We've got a serious rebuilding job to do this summer, which we cannot afford to get badly wrong or we could be heading for a relegation struggle. In that context, it seems pretty essential: 1) To go for a manager with knowledge and experience of the PL 2) To go for a manager who has some knowledge of the existing LCFC squad, strengths, weaknesses Into the bargain, he's a manager who has over-achieved with limited resources. To get Huddersfield into PL and possibly keep them there is a creditable achievement. He also seems to have nurtured at atmosphere of unity and commitment among both his squad and his fans up there - and comes across as a likeable, intelligent bloke, into the bargain. I never thought that I'd end up wanting Puel out without him having a summer to build his own squad, even if performances had been inconsistent....but this really is dismal now, and has been for 2-3 months, and only looks like getting worse, not better. If Puel cannot get more than this out of his existing squad, I see no reason to trust him to be the man to rebuild in the summer. Good shout for Hughton, too, @Fox92 - would be a similar appointment to Wagner in some ways, though he's been around much longer: a manager with current PL experience, thoughtful, who builds unity & realises potential. splinterdream Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 I was calling for Wagner before start of season but he's made some strange decisions in matches with Huddersfield
breadandcheese Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 I would push the boat out for Benitez as first choice. Although I wouldn't be too disappointed with Wagner 1

Popular Post StanSP Posted 5 May 2018 Popular Post Posted 5 May 2018 Huddersfield have only won 3 matches in the league (17 played) since their victory against Watford on 16th December. Why would he be treated any differently to how Puel is treated right now? Failed to score in 9 of those 17 games. Went on a run of 8 games without a win, which included 3 draws and 5 consecutive losses. Lost 9 of those 17. 17

I don't remember exactly but remember watching games where he set the side up so defensively that even when behind they just say back and pundits really ripped into him
steveherbe Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 Get Nigel back, swallow our pride and get the big man back, with Wasilewski as his ' enforcer'

Doesn't sound so positive. I wonder if he'd set up differently with better players.

urban.spaceman Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 Too young, unproven in this league for what we want to be, and I'd honestly rather see how far he can take Huddlesfield. We need a more experienced manager. 1

I do not mind Hughton but I just get an impression that he looks like the sort who can get walked over by players quite easily. We really need someone who can take the dressing room by the fist and command respect immediately. 1

Wymsey Posted 5 May 2018 Posted 5 May 2018 (edited) He had been approached in the Summer, but he felt at the time that it wasn't right to leave a club without a manager going into their first ever season in the PL. Edited 5 May 2018 by Wymeswold fox
