Was wondering yesterday - a repeat of 15/16 seems so unlikely that should we consider retiring all squad numbers of those who played a big enough part to collect a medal ?

Or Is that that too radical?

as the seasons pass, the achievement becomes more stark ..........

would this gesture be disproportinate ?  I’m not so sure.

Weird to think isn’t it. I imagine we’ll be saying goodbye to a few more players after Sunday too.

Just a little over the top, perhaps!

Our owners think big and have big plans for us as a club. To do this would be to admit we are not planning to challenge again, and that is not their style, and not the mindset we should have.

Having supported the club and seen the ups and downs over more than 30 years, 2 seasons doesn't seem much of a period of time to make this comment on, and a top 10 finish doesn't seem a million miles away considering where we've been over those 30 years!

Frankly, winning the league was an incredible event, but we need to move on and look to the future, otherwise we'll be Nottingham F***st...

No but there should be more of a nod to our history - from all eras - around the ground instead of the bland "King Power" shite.

I think that we will be winning a few more trophies in the coming years, could be the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, a European cup or even the Premiership. Our owners are ruthless and have taken our club forward by the decisions that have made, Even when it has left us fans scratching our heads

What happens when we win those cups. Do we retire those numbers too? I think that is way too radical.

As for thanking the players. They ALL know or should do that they are legends at the club, (even Riyad Mahrez with his tantrums). When we had the celebration in the city and at Victoria Park, they knew then.

Build them a statue outside King Power or in the city. Build a statue of CR. name a stand or whatever. Don't retire any numbers.

I admire your insanity.

Insanity is winning the PL with a squad that cost £40 million against Man City £400 million, or any other top 4 team

people - we are never again winning the P/L in our generation.  it was a one off.  the financial rules mean we can never spend what's required to compete at the very very top.  we can definitely reach top four and we could conceivably win the CL (cup comps can be kind with the draw and the final is a one off game)

there are arguments against my suggestion but to say that winning a cup can be equated with that season is ridiculous.

and if by some strange change in circumstances we were able to spend what's required to win it again, those players wouldn't include the journeymen and odd superstars that did it two years ago. they wouldn't need to have their squad number retired because their achievement wouldn't match that of the 15/16 season.

i don't see it as a sign of lack of ambition.

anyway, it isnt going to happen .............................

This.

If you don't believe in the impossible there'd be no point turning up.

Keep dreaming! Spot on, after 50 years of following city I had come to terms that I would never see us win THE league in abou 2014,  never say never, no matter how unlikely it may be, being a city fan is about the disappointment and occasional moment of heaven, I can die a happy man, but hope I see us pull off a second miracle

Exactly, I remember walking home in my Leicester top after the 0-0 draw with Stoke which sent us to League 1. I went into my bedroom and sulked. Being an LCFC fan is a roller coaster.

When Man City were 2-0 down in the tier 3 play-offs in 1999, did any of their fans believe within a few years they would be winning Premier Leagues by record margins and disappointment would be not winning the Champions League???

Money transforms the landscape. I take the point on Financial fair play rules, but these can change over time (or be creatively manipulated...).

I'm not saying I expect us to win the Premier League again in my lifetime, but the current focus on building the training ground, possibly building the stadium and attempting to reshape the squad to a more possession based style in line with other top teams (rightly or wrongly) is all about gearing the club to be able to aim for better things, so I don't think 'we can categorically state we won't win it again in a generation.

I don’t admire you calling it the premiership. It’s the premier league.  Does my head in how even people in the game can’t get this right ?
