I'd rather have a player like Stuaro in the wings than someone like Mendy, King or Amartey. Not sure why that's strange to you. Literally the last thing we need. We have a squad of well over 30 players and you advocate bringing in another squad filler that doesn't improve the team in a position where we already have 8 players competing for two spots? We need to trim the squad down not bring in more mediocrity. 11
mozartfox Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 Do not need. Give Mendy a chance. He played very well last night. There might be something there after all.....
murphy Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 I think it would be wise to listen to the fans sometimes with transfers. When we signed Gokhan Inler, Napoli fans said that he was a player in decline. When we were in for Musa Nigerian fans were openly puzzled by it and now Juve fans are saying very discouraging things about Sturaro. If there is any truth in this then we keep making the same mistakes. 1

Anyone we acquire should fit into three categories: a) Better than what we have in the first XI b) Young with potential to be first XI c) Cheap to add squad depth That's why I never minded a signing like Hernandez who came here on a free. He came to supplement the squad and we thought he wasn't good enough and we sold him for a small profit that probably just about covered his salary whilst here I'd guess. Compare him to the other expensive signing who came here who weren't good enough to replace the first XI. Now we're lumbered with these players and can't move them on, Sturaro looks like a likely candidate to fall into this category. Very clear and good philosophy 2

There always was something there. Just as he was settling in, he injured himself against Arsenal. I think he’s a decent traditional centre midfielder. I hope he gets some cup games and substitute appearances this season 1

Huddersfield said the same about Danny Ward that he was probably their weakest player in the promotion team and the general consensus was he was bang average at Championship level. Statistically as well Danny Ward was one of the worst performing GK's in the Championship conceding 49 goals when his expectation was 40 goals conceded from the shots he faced. I was mocked by a few on here for taking the Huddersfield fans opinion into consideration. Time will judge this one yet again and whilst I'd agree that fans opinions aren't the be all and end all it does get the alarm bells ringing that there is a good chance you're being sold a pup. 1

This is FoxesTalk: we’d rather the opinion of Liverpool fans who have only seen Ward a handful of times; we’ve already written off Papy Mendy, who’s only made 4 appearances for Leicester.

Nobody mentioned Liverpool fans. Huddersfield had him for a season and their fans don't rate him. You can believe them if you like, or not. Who cares? But I would say that they are better placed to make a judgement. I'm not against signing him in particular, just against the daylight robbery of paying £12m for him. 1

I know it's off topic but as a Nigeria fan, Musa is a mixed bag. if you play him to his strengths and make him feel welcome he plays well. But on the topic of Sturaro, I haven't seen him much, but from what I saw, he isn't anything special. He is just another decent/average player that plays in a world class team and mainly used for cups. I wouldn't buy him.

We've seen him at Leicester look like a competition winner as his touch was awful and his weight of pass was like a woman player. On the other side of the coin he's looked a world class player. His performance in the friendly against Barcelona was outstanding and his two goals against Iceland were things of beauty. If Musa was signing for us this season we'd be salivating after watching those world class goals against Iceland but I've seen him fail to do fundamentally easy things time and time again that I just want him sold this summer.

Yeah, I agree. While his stock his up after a decent world cup performance, he should go.
cityfanlee23 Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 Versatile but for someone playing in the Series A I would expect far better stats on the ball. Statistically he's way behind Iborra, Ndidi and silva. He just doesn't seem to get himself possession very often. If he suits us then fine, but he doesn't blow me away or fill me with confidence.

coolhandfox Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 (edited) Not needed for me, not sure his is any better than what we have. Edited 26 July 2018 by coolhandfox
LCFC hub Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 We should be going for someone like Lemina!! Why we never went for him and ended up at Southampton is beyond me.
mozartfox Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 We do not need the new Juniano Lewisiani. Give Mendy a fuching chance - please. If this is true (which I doubt) what the 'F' are our Recruitment smoking?
