Well that would nearly always put South American sides at a disadvantage. Asians going through because they played the likes of Turkmenistan. There has to be a better way but not qualification based

Yeah agreed that it's a stupid comment. 

 

Perhaps earliest goal in the game between the two sides? Or if 0-0 earliest goal overall? In the event that both teams have 3 0-0 draws then both get automatically kicked out of the comp for being boring.

How about on draws in group stages instantly goes to pen shoot out for a bonus point. That would make the likelihood of indentical stats a touch harder to come by.
