Colombia were flattered by a poor Polish performance in the last game and have gone from underrated to overrated in the space of a game.

James Rodriguez on the pitch, las Colombianas   in the stands, and a talented Senegal team who need a win or draw.  Looking forward to this one.

Very hard one to predict. Senegal are big, strong, quick lads. Will the greater ball playing skills of the Colombians count.

I really don't think either of these would be much fun for England to play. I'm sure Japan wouldn't be either but I think I'd rather draw them. Hoping for a win in this game for either team and a draw in the Japan game as I think we will go into the top half of the draw.

Should be an exciting match, probably the most physical of the Group H matches.  If Senegal calmy frustrates Colombia through organization, I see a Senegal win.  From what I've seen of Colombia over the years, they've had a tendency to get quite dirty in tight situations, way beyond what World Cup refs would tolerate.

On the other hand I can also imagine Cuadrado cruising past Senegal defenders, as somehow the Senegal defenders haven't shown lightning-fast reflexes so far.  No idea how the game would pan out!

Why does every Latin American country’s anthem sound like the overture to a Rossini comedy opera.  Gets you primed for pratfalls and fat ladies belting it out, not football.

France won their group, didn't they?

Yes - and I agree that Pele was right. An African team did win the World Cup before 2000. But the better these sides do the less likely all their players will get poached by other national sides.

If I were Columbian, I'd still be going for this - I wouldn't trust that Polish team not to concede against Japan. While they're not winning, qualification isn't in their hands.

It’s not really right that a team could go out of the World Cup literally on refereeing decisions alone.

Couldn’t they just organise a penalty shootout?
