Farcial in places, gutted for Yates but if anybody else was to win the stage then it would be Alaphillipe who is always trying to make things happen.

 

Starting to get close to a TT shoot out between the Sky boys which at least saves the team management of having to choose between G or Froome as who rides for who.

Team sky can't lose unless they take each other out. Back each other up if one fails the other has free licence to go for it. As a race its over. Sky won't drop this.

The Sky boys need to attack Dumoulin and distance him in the remaining mountain stages first, as he is the best time trialer of the three.

Anybody see his crash yesterday? He could easily have been killed when he went over that wall.

If its anything around the 2 minute gap going into the TT id still massively fancy that Thomas can cover that as good as Dumoulin is over the short track

People aren't giving Thomas the credit he deserves at the TT. At the same time, to put 2 mins into Thomas on the TT, Dumoulin has to ride perfectly and hope Thomas falls

Going to be a close battle for 2nd and 3rd with Roglic taking 19 seconds out of Froome and Dumoulin.

 

Surely Thomas has the Tour won baring a fall ?

Yes, a TT at the end of a 3 week tour is a totally different animal to the trials that Dumoulin is amongst the best in the business at.

 

With Thomas also being very very good I think he will only lose about 45 seconds tomorrow..not even that if Dumoulin's legs have gone

Big respect for all of the riders that have got this far and (if they don’t crash tomorrow) who will finish this years race on an incrediblely tough course. Never mind winning it, just getting to Paris is a hell of an achievement.

Just wanted to say congratulations to Geraint Thomas on a fantastic Tour De France win, to be the first Welshman to win the tour, a lot of people before just saw him as a track rider but he has proved he is more than that. whether it is a one of or he can sustain some sort of ability for other cycling events, who knows!. i would also like to say well done to Pierre Letour on winning the best young rider, he clearly has the best name for the Tour De France.

Thomas is also the first man born in Britain to win it.

Really great stage win for Simon Yates who wears the leaders jersey in the Vuelta Espana. Hopefully he will become another British grand tour winner.

Good to see Julian Alaphilippe winning the Tour of Britain. he is one of the most exciting riders in the peleton. most of the riders use the Tour of Britain as a warm up for the world road race championship.

On the 26th June this year, during a regulation training session at the Cottbus velodrome in Germany Vogel collided with a dutch cyclist. the impact severed her spinal cordat the seventh thoracic vetabrae. such a tragic accident to a outstanding cyclist.

It's looks likely that with just two stages to go and just one meaningful one that Simon Yates is going to win the Vuelta Espana for another British cycling success. Congratulations Simon, you truly deserve it. it would be a grand slam of grand tour victories for British cyclists this year with Chris Froome winning the Giro and Geraint Thomas winning the Tour De France. an amazing feat. It would also be the fifth consecutive Grand tour win by a Briton.

British cycling has confirmed the squad of thirty four riders who will represent the Great British cycling team at the UCI road world championships at Innsbruck, Austria from the 23rd to the 30th september.

Simon Yates, Adam Yates, Ian Stannard, Connor Swift, Hugh Carthy, Pete kennaugh,James Knox and tao geoghagen in the elite men's roadrace while Alex dowsett will go in the time trial.

 

In the women's road race Hannah Barnes, Dani Christmas, Alice cobb, Anna henderson, Dani Rowe, and Sophie Wright

 

Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas will not be involed.

... and I love it. Firstly for all the hard work that all three have put in and the talent they have, they deserve it. Secondly it will really piss off the French and particularly the French cycling journalists who believe the grand tours are only there for the French.

Quick step have won the men's team time trial at the UCI road world Championships with Team Sky finishing in fourth.

The women's team time trial at the UCI world Championships was won by Canyon - SRAM racing with Hannah and Alice Barnes form Great Britain in their squad.
