OK, so apologies if there is already a thread on here but I could not see one.

If heaven/hell existed and you were only allowed to listen to one song for the rest of eternity what would it be?

(Basically this is a pretentious way of saying "what's your favourite song ever?").

To be fair, an eternity of silence would probably be better than an eternity of ANY song, even your favourite.  :)

Still listen to that daily.  Such a tune.  X

Ah - but could you do that for an eternity?

"Heroes" is outstanding (hardly an original observation) but the extended Anglo-German version takes it several stages further for me.

It never fails to give the emotions and senses a turbulent workout.

Someone's done a nice job of compiling the accompanying video here, too.

Heaven:

Mr Blue Sky, ELO (maybe not my all time favourite song but it's great and I never get tired of it)

Hell:

I don't know who it's by but there was a fvckin terrible dance song about 10 years ago called "Now You're Gone" or something. It was astonishingly terrible, anyone who liked that song should have a nice relaxing bath with a toaster.

probably something from radiohead. there's enough layers on any one of their songs to keep you occupied. Fine tune your hearing and it's like having 12 songs instead of one.

I'd probably come to hate a song if it's the only one I could listen to. Like Winchesterton, probably something with lots of layers and variation. Any epic track by Pink Floyd, Genesis or Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson would do nicely.
