Yep. A true great band led by a great songwriter. Been brought up on Weller's stuff really, my Dad is a massive fan.

My favourite Jam song is "The Bitterest Pill" but I do love "Down In The Tubestation" (lyrically, Tubestation is superb). Most of All Mods Cons I like, great album.

I was pretty much obsessed with The jam in the early 90's, bought every bootleg going...no internet then.  Compiled my own VHS tapes full of jam stuff (still have them..in the loft).

One of those bands...like the smiths or oasis where the b side could be as good as the a side.

Haven't listened to them for a while...might have to get the records out again.

Hope the UK can produce bands like The jam again.

If you haven't seen 'from the jam' you should they're great.

And just as relevant today, maybe even more so.

And they haven't dated either....still sound great almost 40 years on.

Not a big fan of compilations but Extras is worth checking out and Live jam is a great live album.

Start

Scrape Away

Pretty Green

Carnation

if you want most of The Jam input, I recommend Direction Reaction Creation box set, it has five discs, well worth having a look.

Love the Style Council and the solo stuff

Got back into his solo stuff recently. Brand new start is such a beautiful song

Yes I buy his solo albums, when they come out, seen him live a few times,  brought all of The Style Council, 12" and records,  there a book by Ian Snowball, called Paul Weller - Sound from Studios, lists all his albums up to Saturns Patterns, through to The Jam albums, track listings, and musicians that played on them
