Think it can't be adopted without loads of training and players signed especially for the job??

Just watched an interview with Neil Lennon. He said that after the infamous Sheff Utd game the great MON signed Spencer Prior and Kasey Keller, started them both the next day and announced in the team talk they'd be playing 3-5-2.

Not a single training session, no instructions on how to play the system, just a team talk in which he told them he trusted them to implement it.

The result? 0-0!

Then unbeaten for the rest of the season!

They signed in the closed season after promotion, so that doesn’t make any sense!

I've just been finding that out and yes, you're right, they were signed in close season ...... Not how the program presented it and certainly how Lennon said it .....

 

He talked about the Sheff Utd demonstrations, then said MON told the players that he'd take the heat from the fans as he knew they'd win the last 8 games and then he'd take the adoration.

Then he said that we signed SP & KK, switched to 3-5-2, and said how they hadn't trained at all or had any team talk regarding it, just got told he believed in them and go and play the new formation.

 

But they switched from a face shot to matches with him talking throughout, so it could have been lost in the edit.

 

It's definitely somehow mixed up - but I've just watched it again and it's definitely how it was presented.

Either way 3-5-2 without any training was the take away!!
