Since winning the title we are the biggest underachievers in the premier, why do fan view as it was in the pre title days, we are a different club now,we should have higher goals, we should no longer see ourselves as a club on the verge of bankruptcy or relegation. We are a club that has lost our way since winning the title and sadly Puel hasnt done much to change that

You could be right, he may never come good. His style of play though requires players comfortable with the ball at their feet and being able to pass the ball around comfortably. He hasn't had a centre mid able to do that yet (except Iborra who for whatever reason was deemed not good enough and now possibly Tielemens), so the football we have been seeing i would imagine isnt the football he is wanting. We have lacked a decent striker to support JV and creativity other than maddison who cant do it on his own. Defensively we've been better than we ever have in the premier league and if Puel got 2 or 3 more top signings in key positions in the summer, then he may be able to implement his ideas in a more productive way. Like i said though, you could be right, things may never get better under him and if we have a poor finish to the season he'll be gone anyway.

He’s had 3 windows to sort the midfield out but hasn’t changed anything really, Silva and Iborra were more passing players and he’s let both of them go

You could at least wait until we play before starting a new "Puel Out" thread (Still abit drunk from yesterday, sorry)

... We'll make a new poll

Don’t quite get why our supporters crave to turn every post into a Puel in Puel out debate, quite sad really but hey ho whatever floats your boat... :dunno:

No we're not lol we're overachieving to our historical position and one title win that had odds of 5000/1 for a reason doesn't change what realistic expectations should be...

It's FT you have to be one or the other so what else do we talk about?

Personally yes some of his football is boring and a little toothless. But some of it is the players you can see him screaming for them to move it quicker.

Then look at the kids and squad he is building and I think the future looks rosey. Just at this moment we are two or three pieces of the jigsaw missing.

This was always going to be a problem with such a huge project. No we can't go back to counter attacking football. 13 other sides won't allow us to do it now as they sit deep on us.

Like I said since winning the title with 81 points and all the millions that bought us, we are nowhere where we were, I don't expect us to win the title but we never consolidated to have a consistent squad that should be in strong position to push for a europa spot each season instead the likes of wolves are embarrassing us with a positive direct style.

Last January we were never likely to sign anyone of any note and last summer we sorted the problem areas at cb, rb and cam. This jan hes brought in Tielemens. Not easy to just sign 6 or 7 new players straight away, which is what we've needed to do since he came in. We are all agreed that hes paid the price for poor transfer windows before he arrived. And hes needed to get rid of players to bring new ones in as our wage bill was getting out of control. Im pretty sure, if hes still here in the summer, he'll sign a good cm or 2, a top winger and a striker. That will probably depend on us getting rid of a few more deadwoods like slimani, king, james etc.

so you're saying the title win was a complete fluke

No - he's saying it was a freak occurrence, which is absolutely was.

bit contradictory. I accept that we don't have the power of Man city/man u/chelsea etc. But I don't accept that we are overachieving at all. It's called progress.

It isn't contradictory whatsoever.

But this is!

I'm saying it was a freak occurrence that cannot inform realistic expectations because it's vanishingly unlikely that something like that happens again

We're comfortably midtable and locking that down. That's realistic, that one season doesn't really put us ahead of Everton or West Ham, let alone the big six

We still should be doing better than 43 points, we had champion league football and the millions that bought, the fact is we wasted so much money on players that haven't delivered and appointing Puel, surely you agree we could be doing alot better three seasons on or you happy with the lack of progress since the title win?

We could be doing better, we made a hash of the summer afterwards where we should have been starting to build a long term sustainable team (let's not forget that of the title winning starting lineup, with the exception of Albrighton, all are the wrong side of 30) but showed, in hindsight, too much loyalty to players like Huth who'd had one last hurrah that year. But, we've progressed from relegation candidates at the start of that season to being a comfortable mid-table side talked about as candidates to be best of the rest. That's reasonable progress

It's certainly a run of fixtures where you could get some momentum going but come monday night we could be nine points behind 7th placed Wolves, a hell of a lot of ground to make up. If anything we'd want to be a few points ahead of schedule by the end of that run with the likes of Man City and Arsenal to come.

We cant hit a bright red painted barn let alone a net. I have low expectations for our upcoming "must win" games.  Lets start with not droping behind first.
