Not if Vards is using his own influence and power with the board to ensure he plays. He might believe that the only way out of our predicament is for him to play/score to lift the team and the board may well be in agreement with that and putting the pressure on the manager. If (and it's an if, but i have my suspicions) thats the case, then it's the boards fault.

I’d argue that the manager is in charge of team selection. Not Vardy.

Yes - you start Daka against Palace. First half Palace were sitting back and offered very little, and Vardy missed several golden chances. Vardy offered no more than Daka could have done in that half. You then bring Vards on about 65 mins as an impact. At 65 mins against Palace he was completely gassed.

Going for this level of egregious hindsight palaver in order to have a pop at Ruud almost makes me want to defend the guy.

Run that (Palace sitting back) game again with Vardy or Daka starting, say a dozen times, and I reckon Vardy gets more chances, and scores more goals. What do you think would happen?

Anyways... surely a better attack line re RVN would be the simple one - he left a completely gassed (your call) player on for half an hour.

It's not hindsight, its written from the perspective that to get the best out of Vardy we need to rotate him as Enzo did last year. I was expecting Ruud to start Daka against Palace and was shocked he didn't.

Lots of instances in the past when the board and senior players have used their influence. Its not unusual.

Whatever the perspective you are claiming, you're using events in the game (Vardy missing golden chances) to make your argument for Daka to have started. That is using hindsight.

If you are going to use it, why not do so wrt to the QPR game? That seems like a much better fit for the 'did we really need to start Vardy' question than a potential season definer against Palace.

Daka offered something different against Palace that could have worked, especially as they sat back and flooded the midfield in the first half. As you can see from the game, the difference between the 2 teams was Vardy not converting chances.  Starting Daka and bringing Vardy on (even if it was still only 0-1 at the time) offered something more compelling than we we actually did.

You want to play Daka... to....convert more chances????

Are you ok?

Stupid loyalty to a player well past his prime

I've always felt we're to loyal. Even see posts on here about keeping a player around the club. Doesn't happen at any other club and no other top flight club would have their 37/38 year old legend as their main striker.

However it isn't Vardy's fault we have not recruited well, all strikers that have come in to replace him haven't looked good enough and at the end of the day he has still scored 6 in 19 goals this season for a club in a relegation battle.

As we saw against West Ham, Daka has goals in him. Do i think he is the solution to problems - no. But resting Vardy might actually solve problems and are you ok for thinking he should be starting every game?

I hate this chat - Vards is the goat and i love just seeing him on the pitch. But for the love of god, just rotate him.

If Ruud had started Daka and we'd still have lost people would be going fxxking mental.

Totally. But a good manager has the balls to pick the more effective player. And, the more effective player is not always the better player.

If vardy ain't scoring, someone else needs to be given a chance.

If we're struggling for goals then why ain't we recruiting in this area. We've had 4 seasons now to replace Jamie when he stopped being highest goal scorer for us

I don't think it's really said enough how he isn't captain material. He never wanted the armband in the past and I get giving it him because he's the goat but there is such a lack of leadership in the team now.

Those core values you need to pick everyone up when you're losing just aren't there. No one looks bothered. It's so sad to see.

The only player who looked bothered on Saturday was Bilal EK and Ruud decided to sub him off for a League 2 player.

Love that he pointed to his PL badge when he scored in front of the Spurs fans lol

Although may prove to be very ironic if we get relegated
