HELP!! An Age Old Chant

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello all,

Its been bugging me for a while, but theres a old chant I uses to sing when O went to watch Leicester as a young lad.

The chant spelled out the name Leicester by reading each letter individually , e.g. " L" - "E" - "I" - "C" - "E" .. etc

But i cant remember the tune behind the chant, can anybody help? It was a classic in its day.

Thanks , Dave

Leicester are the best (clap, clap)

Don't forget to include the claps. The claps are important.

In much the same way that jazz hands at the appropriate moment are vital in When you're smiling.

History shows that the clap and jazz go hand in hand.

10 points for anyone that can name the original vocalist who took the part of Jesus on the above recording - no cheating!

Ian Gillan?

Correct. And the song he sang that convinced Rice/Lloyd Webber?

Don’t that one I’m afraid, not that in to Deep Purple. I know Murray Head sang Judas and I think Yvonne Elliman Mary?

Impressive - it was Child in Time. I recommend listening to it, either the original or off Made in Japan.

I’ll give it a listen, thank you.

I remember in the old Kop someone used to shout " knock knock "  chorus --Who's there ?     Wendy! --Wendy who?  " Oh wendy blues go marching in !   We were easily pleased in those days.

First gig I ever went to, Machine Head tour at DeMont in about '72-73ish(?). Couldn't hear a thing for the next couple of days :D

Highway Star my fave (sorry, off topic).

I was born in 1970, so my debut was 1987....I'm rather jealous! I saw them at the De Mont in 1996.

Loudest gig I ever went to was at Loughborough town hall somewhere around the late seventies . Colosseum 2 (Gary Moore of thin Lizzy and others fame) were playing. I think nobody remembered to tell them that it was only a small venue so they just set up their usual PA system. Ears were ringing for the next three days.
