So going back to basics, Man u sold Evans for 7m, who then ended up at Leicester for 4m*, and bought Maquire from Leicester for 80m.

It is hard to see which club has had the better deal.

Leicester. Always Leicester.

*It was actually £3.5m payable over 2 instalments over the period of his LCFC contract, if Leicester serves.

West Brom turned down a £25m bid the summer before.

We are rotters aren't we?

It’s not hard at all.

They spent 80 million replacing Evans with a lesser player. We spent 19 million replacing Slabhead with a better one.

Dominic Cummings would be proud of us!

Depends how you measure transfers but we're not going to see who got the better deal after 4 games of the season.

Of course Maguire won't win half as much as Evans did there but Evans played in a better Manchester United team.

We paid £3.5 million for Evans and received a world record transfer fee for Maguire, anyway you look at it we got a great deal.

At the time united received £7 million a decent fee at the time for a player they didn’t see as a first team player - a good deal for both parties at the time.

Now, Maguire at £80m, for me needs to win a Premier League and a Champions League with united and have the same impact Van Dyke has had at Liverpool to start believing they’ve had a better deal.

They’re a million miles away from that. I think they’ll struggle to qualify for the champions league this season.

Off the field, they’re such a mess.
