I'd really struggle to begrudge him a move. He's had a good time here but there's no way he should be 19th in the league. I've hit a point where I think he's good enough for the Champions League.

I'm surprised so many people are shitting on Newcastle. They're going to be challenging for Europe before long - think it's likely to be a battle between them and Brighton for the "best of the rest" tag this season.

Here we go, so my main concern previously with Madders is that he's a player all of us know can produce that magic moment, but I always considered him overrated by our fans because I did not really see him as a player that can carry a team through a match, for me too often he would go missing for large parts of the match but then produce something to turn it around, or atleast give us a chance to score, but for a player who was considered by most of the fanbase to be a top 4/6 player, you need more than just those moments, and I never honestly saw him as consistent enough cross 90 minutes to be in that category, but in those moments he's as good as anyone. I felt there were always those games where he would not really get a sniff during the game, and suddenly come alive when it was too late.
I rated Maddison as one of our best players, but nowhere near an elite player. I always said I hope he proves me wrong, well he has not just proved me wrong, he's made me look an idiot, so here's the humble pie, i'm eating it and it tastes pretty sweet. He's been a class above this season and proving he could still be a 60-75m player. This season he's been grabbing the game by the neck and basically dragging us towards chances we have created, we've been absolutely awful this season defensively, and the midfield has been lost, but Maddison has been consistently producing moments and has been far more involved than I've seen him in the last 18 months. He looks like that player we had when Rodgers first came in and we were electric.

Credit to Rodgers too, he has managed Maddison really well, and if by some miracle we have turned a corner and we can start to play aggressive, attacking football again with Vardy/Barnes/Tielemans etc firing on all cylinders, I'm scared for the opposition how much Maddison can produce.

The first couple of games this season I thought there might be a chance I'd be vindicated on Madders because he had a slow start, multiple mistakes in the Brentford match and a did little vs Arsenal bar his goal, but since then he's turned the screw and come alive. Full credit to him with everyone around him falling apart, he's managed to plug away decent performances.

I'll listen to that kind of rhetoric when said tactics aren't seeing you winless in 6 and relegated below Hungary following two losses to them.

I remember having this debate with you at the end of last season about Maddison where you were saying this, so fair play for happily admitting you were wrong and eating humble pie.

He's just quality, he's seriously approaching peak Mahrez levels now for me, plus his work rate his much better than Mahrez.

I reckon for kids growing up as Leicester fans now he must be the main man and he'll the player who the current generation of kids will wax lyrical about as their hero growing up in 20 years time, like the Gibson, Weller, Lineker, Izzet or Vardy for past generations.

I can see him at Newcastle.  He seems the kind of guy who likes being a big fish in a small pond.  He likes being the centre of attention and I'm not sure how he'd be long term in an environment where he was surrounded by superstar players.  It's part of his charm and confidence and it suits him.

A move to Newcastle would likely secure a big pay rise and let's be honest, they are a team on the up and one that he could contribute to.

Although I want him to stay, I think his next move has to be to a Champions league club, so that will rule out Newcastle in the short term.  Maybe a move abroad wouldn't be a bad thing, I could see his talents being appreciated in La Liga or Serie A, I think he would thrive in these leagues.

I don’t see why madders would want to go to Newcastle they are still not close to being a champions league team which is where his next step should be regardless of how much they want to pay him he is way to good for them. If he keeps doing what he is doing much bigger clubs will be after him .

All our views on it are irrelevant.

The guy talking about the Newcastle interest isn't sh1tting you.

Not personally convinced he goes; but I can absolutely assure you that the move has been mooted and he's not dismissed it.

So now come at me as well as at the other guy! And I imagine others have heard similar. Our source may be the same or may not, but my source is 100% cast iron on this.

This was the thing for me, maybe I overstated the situation but it genuinely felt at times people were thinking he was at that level, Maddison, like mahrez had magical moments, but Mahrez was making those moments everytime he got the ball and I often felt people were overstating just how frequently Maddison was doing this, but on his current trajectory he very well could be at that level if this carries on, I think this is the best i've seen him to be honest, if the squad around him improves then jesus we have a player on our hands.

We desperately need the squad to pick up the pace and give Maddison a reason to stay because if he keeps up like this, it won't be Newcastle after him, it will be one of the big boys.

Newcastle are yet to really pay big money for players which if they get Maddison is a shocking state of affairs that we've cashed in for around £50m or less because his contract expires in 2024. They also aren't yet paying monster wages either, I'd argue we pay higher salaries although that needs to stop or at least be dealt with more robustly.

You've just proven the point though. He's already played for the best of the rest. He's obviously better than that level. I couldn't moan at him for joining somebody like Arsenal (pains me to say it given where they were). Newcastle though, he can do better, and he should hold out for it.

Maddison will know that it’s more likely he’ll be picked by Southgate if he’s in a side competing for silverware.

Southgate, like just about every England manager before him, has his ‘favourites’ and generally will pick from the ‘top 6’ clubs.

Bollox to all this nonsense about Southgate picking players on-form.
Maddison will leave in the summer I think and especially if he doesn’t go to the World Cup
