Lots of noise regarding suppression of "free speech" over in the main forum regarding the current state of the club and what should be done about it.

Sympathetic, but at the same time there has never been an absolute entitlement to free speech on here or any other UK (or world) platform and I'm not sure what the fuss is about with Mark (regardless of his own feelings on the matter) having to take measures to defend himself from potential legal trouble caused by posts here.

There’s a genuine lack of understanding with regards to free speech in the general population which is causing so much harm and division. I’m not sure it’s possible to correct the masses of misinformation in the public domain, especially when the media are involved.

People wish to maintain the right to free speech, but at the same time the right to be offended and the right to silence those that disagree. Quite the mental gymnastics.

Yes many people don't understand that free speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want without consequences.

Right.

It's that misunderstanding of the US First Amendment/UK Bill of Rights that has gotten us here. I've no idea where the misconception has come from considering the ideal of free speech being talked about has never existed, anywhere.

Just drove my son somewhere I don’t know well and sat nav took me down Catherine Street. Sat nav pronounced it as in the girls name. I’ve always known it pronounced as Cath-Rine. Is that just something ive picked up somewhere is do others call it that?

I must saying I am exercising my right to free speech on the Main Forum by saying absolutely nothing.

I love the ‘never felt so disconnected in my club, it’s gone the games gone’ comments in the forum. I don’t know why I find them so funny

Everybody I know says the latter

I think the girls name pronunciation is correct and everyone in Leicester I know says it wrong. There's only one way to pronounce Catherine after all, you never hear anyone named Catherine who says it's pronounced the way people in Leicester say Catherine Street lol

I know what you mean - people talk about it as though it belongs to them. I get it to an extent, but really it's not a healthy way to be.

That and Groby are the way of identifying whether someone’s truly from Leicester/shire.

Pandora's Box is well and truly open these days.

I used to live just off Barkby Road as a kid. It was always Cath-erine Street.

And Belvoir Street.

What about Heather (just outside Ibstock) being pronounced Hee-thur.

Stupidest thing I've ever heard.

 But that's it's pronounced locally.

Yep agreed. Unpopular view but I love watching and going to Leicester, even when it’s hopeless like now. I really hope changes are made at board level because what we have right now is not good enough.
But I know one day in my life it’ll stop being fun, I’ll forget it ever existed and I’ll slip away. I hope I do that gracefully and don’t publicly pronounce that ‘I’m done with the club mate’ multiple times over many years

As well as using words like 'fuming', 'honking' and 'embarrassing'. It becomes a competition for who can complain the most. It's a kind of self harming cycle.

I love watching the club now, on a screen - purely for laughs; like seeing an ex-partner, drunk in the street, arguing with their new beau, shitting themselves, and getting arrested.

Those business leaders who say working in the office is the best way of working clearly enjoy listening to the middle aged women moaning about how hot or cold it is or, worse, discuss politics.
