More than adequate as a young backup LB, give him another couple of seasons and if he’s still making the same mistakes and being bullied then maybe think about letting him go.

Also counts as a homegrown player in Europe if we continue to get there every other year.

You aren’t going to judge for example Bertrand and Thomas exactly the same are you?

...and for a 20 year old to cement himself above a so called established premier league player is a massive positive for him.

Championship player at best.

So we should've gone out and spent £30m on a back up until JJ and Ricky P got fit?

If a Championship player can keep Mo Salah quiet for 90 minutes though, then let's sign more of them lol

Thomas is just fine for a 4th choice fullback. Better than we should anicipate having really.

The only reasons to send him out on loan are no Europe next season, finding a fancy la liga freebie or whats his face, Bertyboy, has a holy Fuchs apparition and goes all disney hero on us.

Basically, he needs to be on the pitch every now and then to grow into a City stalewart, preferably not accompanied by a herd of donkeys like today

But he was inconsistent until a certain point playing for us, in and out the side, but came good. Thomas has it in his locker, just needs to learn his trade imo

He's been poor for a while. Don't think he was ever fully intended to play as much as he has this season given the Bertrand situation but he's really not convincing me of late. Castagne is substantially better.

He really needs to go out on loan , the kid will be a good player in time , but at present he has no idea about going forward nearly every pass he gets from the centre half’s he plays it straight back to them , and at times this just puts us under pressure

5 games ago or whatever fans were going on about how well he worked with KDH & Barnes down the left side, around the same time Rodgers pricked ears up by stating he thought Thomas was probably his player of the season at that point.

56 appearances for us in 2 seasons, 20 years old, homegrown, has had injury issues recently. Support your players.

Just play Brunt, Alves and Braybrooke they say. Chuck 'em in - they must be ready, and they are one of our own.

Then i read this thread.

Exactly we want to see our youth come trough to the first team and then whilst they are still young we are declaring them finished.

He just needs to improve physically. He hasn't even stopped growing yet.

Most 20 year old players have barely made a first team appearance for their club yet. He is an FA cup winner.

Give the lad a chance FFS.

Compare most Top 6 sides 3rd choice LB to Luke Thomas and tell me one better?

Castagne/JJ clearly are at a better level right now but Thomas as good squad depth who has potential is a great predicament if ask me.

Rodgers has tried Pereira, Bertrand, Castagne, JJ and Thomas at LB. It makes you nostalgic for the Fuchs days. He did it all himself.

Fuchs also had bad days & periods…

Thomas has nothing to prove… he’s our mascot of an up & coming successfully player, who knows himself, he’s still got a lot to learn & experience… individual game observation even knee- jerk fan reactions exceptable…

But silly remarks questioning on his right to be in the PL & this team… Shows no respect, either to him,or the understanding

of what it takes to build into a first choice player..

Hes the last player, I would list as one of the problems any post game..

He's had a difficult season but he's been playing as part of a very shaky defensive unit. I truly believe he'll be a very good player for us for a long time. Wasn't that long ago he marked Salah out of the game. He'll get stronger and will improve with experience, he's still only 20 which is a baby for a premier league full back.

This feels like history repeated as there were loads of people spouting the same things about Chilwell when there were plenty of us who could see that BC had huge potential, he just needed experience and to develop physically.
