I know many Test matches often end before day 5, but l find it arrogant that we only offer Zimbabwe a one off, 4 day Test.

I think we have to be realistic here. This is a total mismatch that is never lasting five days. Ideally we would have a reasonably competitive three match series but it isn't going to happen.

Should easily make 14k for a comfortable second place in the all time stats.

He'll go beyond Ponting this summer but I think he retires after he goes beyond Sachin. Plenty of miles in the tank.

I just don’t see the point of playing Zimbabwe at all in this format, but it just seems we’ve said ‘We will grant you 4 days only, take it or leave it’.

I’m all for helping out the supposed weaker nations like Zimbabwe, but we could do more by going on a mini tour out there, (l actually saw us play in Zim in the mid 90’s, l don’t think we’ve been back since) & England always take good support .They need help financially, as do The West Indies, Sri Lanka etc.

England, India & Australia hold all the cards & have the money, and seem to rarely tour the ‘less favourable’ countries, other than for a brief T20/ODI holiday.

Great innings by Bennett

Caught up on the highlights. Not chanceless, but an enjoyable watch nonetheless. You wonder how much more competitive they might be with some of the Zimbabwe-qualified (or could have been) players in the county game - Muyeye, the other Currans, Higgins.

Letting Bashir get three when very average Div 2 batters have been making mincemeat of him in recent weeks is unforgivable though.

I though Cook looked a bit ordinary against opposition that would be bottom of div 2 if in the Championship. At 76-77mph, he's also slower than I thought he would be, only a couple of mph faster than Charlie Dagnall used to grunt it through at. I might want to take more of a punt on Josh Hull for the Ashes, who would at least offer variety.

Agreed.

Hull with Left arm pace would offer a different option.

Looks like he's a strike bowler at the moment.

I don't think the division 2 comparison really stacks up when he's been running through division 1 sides for years. He did well in Australia for the Lions as well, but considering how long it's taken them to pick him I can't see him playing many tests.

I want him to succeed, but it wasn't very convincing. It could be nerves and conditions, on a different track he might have more of an impact. Conditions are very dry because of the lack of rain.

Wow, Digvesh is some character.

Got a one match suspension recently for clashing with a player after celebrating a wicket. Celebrates by doing signature on his hand and the pitch.

And now he's tried to Mankad someone, appealed for it and was unsuccessful...
