Shambles of a tour from England. Won’t be surprised to see us out in the group stage of the champions trophy. Too many mates still being picked. Don’t bat deep enough anymore, bowling is very hit and miss. Can’t keep relying on an ageing Rashid to hold things together.

Weird because on paper the batting line up seems very deep.

But there doesn't seem to be the structure or foundation for the lower order batters to build on. It's almost always a rescue job and not what they're in the side for.

Compare Duckett and Shubman’s innings today. Both get off to good starts, Shubman plays the situation and gradually builds into the innings before accelerating. Duckett once again gets a good start and gets out playing a disgustingly poor shot, when he could just wait for the bad ball given his start. Banton will do the same soon. You can’t Bazball your way through 50 overs as lower order wickets are too important, these guys can’t bat out 20 overs for obvious reasons.

Probably the only time i’ll defend Duckett for doing this today. Would have been told to go out and smash it around for as long as he could in the powerplay, with that injury. Was annoyed they didn’t play him further down the order but he done what was probably asked of him to set Salt and Banton up.

Aus squad missing a lot of experience for the Champions Trophy.

Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins and Stoinis.

Batting-wise they've got the power. But their bowling attack has taken a beating even before a ball bowled.

Meanwhile we've not got Jaiswal or Bumrah :(

There's numerous players that don't get a look in that instantly improve this side

They only bat down to 7 really now.

Just another reminder Sam Hain isn't getting picked

This.

Too many mates being picked not on form.

Atkinson/Livingstone don't offer enough in the bowling department either.

Sam Hain was pretty explicitly told he won’t be playing for England due to what happened in the hundred last year, despite his overall one day record

What happened?

Have they got a reason to not pick Daniel Bell-Drummond?

Basically screwed up two chases for Trent rockets by going at less than a run a ball and running out team mates. There were two games in a row that he essentially lost it for them. He was then dropped, wanted to go and play in the one day cup, ECB said no and that was that. Then he basically did the same again in the T20 blast quarter for Birmingham. His face has never fitted despite being a sound lad.

How he's never won a cap in any format is a massive mystery.

But we'll continue to pick the current lads who are performing shit for England, it makes zero sense. Hain averages over 50, they need someone that can actually bat through.

I'd be amazed if Crawley isn't given a go in this ODI team at some point. Powerplay seems made for him, although I'm sure he will continue to be hugely inconsistent.

To be fair, most of the batters in this line up have performed at some point. Livingstone probably shouldn't be in ODI side but in India, I could see the logic as he does bowl but hasn't really worked. All out pace attack hasn't worked, certainly in the middle overs.

But has to be said, India are a different level in home conditions in the white ball game.

No, they need someone who has good banter, can play golf and is happy to go along without complaining.

Livingstone offers little as a batter also. Gets out playing ridiculously poor shots...... not that he's alone in that.

For me he's a luxury player to carry if it's a flat deck as he can accelerate the run rate quickly.

It's more his bowling I'm getting at him and Atkinson going at 8/9 an over isn't good enough in India imo.
