Is this our fault? Are we the bad guys?

  1. 1. Is the European SuperLeague a consequence of us winning the premier league and shaking things up?

It definitely has to do with what has happened with us in the last 5 years. We however are the good guys not tge bad guys.

We didn't cause it but we are absolutely a part of it. During the league win, I had pretty much everyone coming up and shaking my hand if I had the city shirt on. But I can imagine the absolute venom that Levy must have for us - his one chance to win the league and we "stole" it from him. No surprise that he's in on this.

The people at those clubs who work with spreadsheets didn't understand human spirit, the determination of the underdog, the growth of potential, the power of unity, spreadsheets say we can't possibly win the league in 96 on our budget. Not our fault but yes it's a reaction to situations like ours. Every season 2 of the six had to sit down at their AGM and explain why they missed out on the Champions League, now it could be three or even four who have to have that conversation so they've just moved the goalposts, took the ball home, if they can't to it through sporting achievement they'll use their branding to guarantee a place in the highest European level tournament. Theatre not sport.

There has been talk of a breakaway European league for years before we won the league... they just want MORE money.. whatever they can do to get more money.

I Dont want to create Another topic...So I will use this to Bounce off

In reality this & other Threads have said it all..Not much more to say..

So Bottom line..!!

If " The Good guys" cant turn this around, & Dont Ban clubs or players from Eufa/Fifa competitions

and Football then becomes a Split Organisation of tolerance. and comprimise...

When would you as a fan say "enough is enough"..... ??

I am Not going to support profi-football, either by my presence or watching it on Tv....then only lower League football...!!!

If Leicester city were to join this super-League or Another Soft touch compromise....would you still support Leicester city or Football at all...!!

I know from my Stance that will Close my book in being even interested in watching profi-football..!!

Nothing to do with us. I remember talk back in the early 00s of establishing a European Super League. I hope they go, the PL expel them and we carry on. There's enough big teams left that can fill the void and drive the commercial beast that is the PL to keep the money coming in.

Funnily enough this might actually harm these teams longer term when they come back with their tails between their legs begging to be readmitted as the new big 6 will be the money makers and they'll be more competition.

I'm not convinced that the pot of gold seemingly at the end of the Super League rainbow really exists for the clubs themselves. Yes, revenue will go up exponentially but so too will player wages, transfer fees for players outside of the league, and agent fees will be astronomical.

Its not us, we are an outlier, its fear. Fear of missing out on European lucrative competitions, fear of sharing riches, fear of merit based outcomes.

Some of these complaints are valid though. These clubs bring in the lion's share of the audiences. Finding the way to reconcile the two is the challenge.

Bit dramatic.

Conglomerate football clubs are just cutting out the middleman of qualification and securing the financial rewards by moving an arranged elitist orgy to a Premier Inn.

I am all for them plodding off. Get them out the league altogether. Big fixtures are rarely entertaining anyway. :schmike:

So what you are saying is that this is in essence, an efficiency promotion exercise? Who doesn't like improved efficiency?

I think teams like us are a contributing factor for teams like spurs and arsenal joining, and for Man Utd they probably don't like the fact we can hold out for £80m for an average defender when they can generate a system where the pull of a super league and obscene wages will be too much

Partly but I would suggest it's more to do with the fact there are only four champions league spots in England and six breakaway teams after those spots so at least two are not going to be in the top competition every season. This new league guarantees all six teams what they will consider the top level of European football every season and the money which comes with it. Absolutely disgraceful behavior and if it goes forward will ruin football forever.
