Yeah he’s quality and proven at a high level. He is more likely to go Bayern or Chelsea than Leicester unfortunately.

His been linked with lots of prem teams cause of Inter's situation

The rumours of them being close to liquidation are baseless. But yeah I think he doesn’t have too long left on his deal, he has one big contract left in him, so makes sense for him to move this summer regardless.

The guy is a £50m player though. I’d be surprised if he went for £30m. He has limited resale value really at his age so I can’t see us going for this at all.

De Vrij would be the best option, but Inter selling Lukaku would mean they could ask for more money to complete the deal

Spurs just spent 45mil om Romero so I highly doubt they are after another high price defender.

Agree. De Vrij is linked with Chelsea and Bayern.

I don’t know why our name is there, but de Vrij would be the highest profile signing (in terms of an established top class player at his peak) in the history of Leicester City.

It just doesn’t seem like our type of signing. But it would be great for 3-4 years. He would play every week here though. So two of Evans, Soy and Fofana would be benched.

I still think we can see this out. Castagne is nearly ready and he will be on the bench   if Jonny is back shortly we will have three defenders on the bench. JJ will hopefully be back before Christmas. We have squad size limitations to contend with and with no apparent interest in our squad players, some may end up outside the 22. That may not seem a problem to us but is an expense we can do without. Loaning out experienced, high earning players is no easy task, so this scenario , while not ideal, has to be considered. Benko of course must stay.

We can’t. We need a new CB. Lose another one and we’re absolutely ****ed. Benkovic tk not even be considered when he’s a natural CB says it all, Rodgers doesn’t like him. We will bring a new defender in for sure.

Obviously it is risky, I would prefer they paid the fee and brought in Tarkowski but I just don't think they want to spend. In retrospect , we should not have sold Josh Knight but you always think that your main men are going to stay fit. Liverpool were in the same position last season.

Just can’t see us lobbing 30 odd million at a 29 year old… it’s just not how we do things! If they'd said Skriniar or Bastoni it would’ve been more believable

I could only see this being considered if he were intended as a direct replacement for Evans, and on the assumption that the view within the club is that Evans can't be relied on fitness-wise for anything other than the odd game.  But even so, it's hard to see how we would be prepared/able to finance such an expensive replacement.

I think they will spend the cash. That won’t be the issue, the issue will who to negotiate with, and Dyche is a ****, so unless you’re a super heavyweight there’s not point in bidding because it will drag out….

I think we need to go abroad, and go for someone where it won’t be a tough to negotiate.

Interestingly, there are rumours that Inter are in deep financial trouble so having to do a fire sale.

The 100million they get from the Lukaka transfer will help them.

De Vrij doesn't fit our usual model, and think this is a case of making up a rumour based on the Fofana injury.

But if de Vrij is available at the right price, he would be the experienced defender we're looking for.

This go 1 of 2 ways , go with what we have and finish in the bottom half of the table if Evans and little Wes don’t play again till after Xmas. Then we risk losing are best players . Or we cough up and buy a very good CB and hope we get the troops back as soon as possible and we again hope to finish in the top four and all are good players will stay . I know which way I would go .

Yes. There's no other possible way this could go.

Nat Philips from Liverpool is available and with VVD and Gomez back from injury, very much surplus to requirements.

Last season held the defence together towards end of season.

Plus the scousers would hate to see him leave.

I liked what I saw of Philips, but Liverpool aren't going to sell to us for cheap, and at that point, we may as well pay for a more experienced CB.

Brendan doesn't conduct transfer negotiations on our behalf.  Why should Dyche do it for Burnley?

Be pointless paying that much for a player with a year left on his contract. Same with Tarkowski as well. Stick it out for a few months and try with Amartey and Benkovic.
