Futacs and Ormondroyd both 3cms smaller, Jari Rantenen 9cm smaller. I can't think of any non keepers that stand a chance. The ones I have, have been smaller. 1

Have you seen us play the last 2 years?! Hopefully his signing stops us playing such a high line as it's how we concede about 50% of our goals.

whoareyaaa Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 It will definitely help with Kasper being in the team behind him so overall we have done well here I think given the time we had

Well if you sign Vesty, you will then have 50% of our back 4 from that game. Just letting you know. Yeah but 50% of them played for about 10 minutes of the 90
TheSomersetFox Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Saints fans will know more than any of us about the fella, but at the end of the day he's 4th choice when everyone's fit. I'm more than content with us getting him in to cover for Wes and Jonny at that price. Hope he can do the business for us. Just a shame Benkovic still can't be trusted 1

SecretPro Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 People crying about this like we've made Vestergaard a marquee signing and that we want him as a long term starting CB. Chill, he's cover whilst little Wes and Evans are out injured. That is all. If he does such a good job that he becomes part of our regular back 4 then that's a bonus for us. 1
winteriscoming Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Am I right that he was sent off against us when we played them away?
Popular Post Shane Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 Decent video analysis of Vestergaard Vs Man City (mute the awful background music) 6
Popular Post Phil Bowman Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 The strangest thing about this for me is that we’ve become a club who, when we suddenly need a centre back just before the season starts, go and sign a regular Premier League starter and seasoned international. It’s not five minutes ago that we’d have been making do with a Championship squad player on loan in this position… 13

We'll need some backup. I guess Amartey will be kept here at least until Fofana's back, unless we sign another CB. That's why I think we might get another loan signing, which would allow Amartey to go out. I think Nelson will be protected but Benkovic will definitely go out on loan if there are takers.

That’s why it’s panic to me. My opinion based on the handful of 90 minutes I’ve seen is… he’s not that good. Not great on the ball, slow, error prone. Hate people just saying it’s a good signing because it’s a signing. Hope I’m proved wrong of course and he ends up being a Robert Huth inspired signing for us But you should know that you can't really base an opinion on 90 minutes of football, that's absurd. Thats like saying that Soyuncu is rubbish because someone only watched him play in the Bournemouth mauling a couple of seasons back. Or that Fofana isn't up to scratch because someone saw him play against Braga in the europa league and he was all over the place. Vestergaard Is a good player in a poor team. Like Maguire was, like Huth was, like Bertrand was, like Evans was. I've watched about a dozen saints games last season (missus supports them) and he's quality. Was only a month ago that he had Kane on toast in the Euros. Edited 11 August 2021 by kristianity77
HighPeakFox Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Can you please anyone recall our team when Palace trounced us 5-0? I realise it's not perfectly analogous, but there were plenty of fine players in that team.
One Arm Babba Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Great deal at the price touted. Fofana injury withstanding we needed to replace big Wes and much like the Fuchs replacement in Bertrand, this strengthens the squad in the position.
