All Amartey should have to do is lay the ball off to Youri , its not his job to be creative . Adventurous CBs are likely to get you into trouble. See what Jonny does and Bonucci and all the greats , they win the ball and lay it off.

You could not have picked a worse example lol

Feels like a panic move. Not convinced from what I’ve seen of him

Evans is back in 1 month.

He's our 4th choice long term.

Wouldn't be too concerned

....I mean, by all accounts I looks like we've been tracking him for a year. I wouldn't necessarily call that a panic buy.

Well, under the circumstances, I can't see how we could have pulled off anything much better than this.  S'hampton in freefall though surely?  Can't see them staying up at this rate.

Looks like a relegation squad to me (JWP being the exception). But I quite like the manager, you never know. A lot of very average sides in the Prem.

Also think their keeper is pants, and the stats suggest I am right.

He was shight in the FA Cup semi, had that penalty red card moment with Vardy game straight after that too so can see why many would be put off him. But last season altogether was productive for him. Southampton have been a struggling side for a few years now, and Leicester have been tracking this lad for a while, so we obviously see something in him here.

We may have but would’ve expected us to go for someone younger, more long term if Fofana hadn’t been injured

Not a sexy signing but guess it’s logical.

Relatively inexpensive, premier league experience and played with Bertrand and Schmeichel before. Probably okay with being a rotation option, and given Evans injury provides experience and wouldn’t have been a bad signing as 4th choice even if Fofana hadn’t got injured. Huge and both footed as well basically what we were looking for anyway.

I wasn't overly keen on this to start with but the more I think about it the better it is.

He's played with both Kasper and Bertrand which would help him settle, he's a big presence in both boxes, he knows the league, it's a decent fee for a player that is likely to mainly be cover and he can play decent long diagonal balls from the little I've seen that I think Barnes in particular could benefit from.

How? And to be fair, it is a  it of a panic move.  Season starts in a few days and we have most of our defence out.

Under Rodgers, I fully expect Vestergaard to improve leaps and bounds over the season.

I'm not so sure. I think we were always looking for someone a little more experienced to cover for when Evans was out. It certainly would have been my preference.

Signing someone who we have long standing interest in for a reasonable fee seems like the opposite of a panic buy tbf.

Hopefully, he can go up a level playing with the standard of players we have.  Ndidi must be a boon to any CB playing behind him.   Ricardo to the right must be more than reassuring.  Or Castagne.   Or Justin.   And alongside the pace of Caglar.  And knowing Bertrand.

And Rodgers wanted a big bar steward.

Yeah I worded what I put wrong.  I mean its a panic move in that we don't have much time to sort something but I actually really rate Vestergaard.  He's made to not look "that great" by the garbage that's around him.  He won't have that at Leicester.
