We've lowered our expectations so far all we're expect from our strikers is to run about a bit, press and put themselves about. We may as well play the fastest physical lump we can find on a Sunday morning and they'll still be more of a goal threat than this fraud. The upturn in performances is down to JJ, Winks and Ricky P starting instead of Hamza and Skippmare, nothing to do with Daka. Call me old fashioned…. But, I’m one of these backwards, non-hipster football fans who like a striker who, you know, score f@ck#ng goals! 3

He looks, at best, very rusty. I'd be over the moon if one of the academy kids stepped forward with Monga-esque confidence and impact and immediately got a knack for scoring at this level but I think if any were that close to ready, they'd at very least be getting a chance off the bench. The reality is that, for now at least, it's Daka or Ayew and it just isn't a contest. Whatever positive attributes Ayew has or hasn't got, he just isn't a 9. He makes our attack slow, predictable and ineffective. He makes the players around him worse, he makes our shape and balance worse. It doesn't matter that his touch is more confident or that he's stronger, holding the ball up a little is fine, holding on to it indefinitely and not bringing others in to play is not. Daka is just better for the team than Ayew is. Does that make Daka great? No. Do we need better? Yes. This isn't me defending him ad nauseam, the two things aren't mutually exclusive, he can be a poor option and still be our best option. That's just life with Jon Rudkin. 100% spot on!

He doesn't need to be a goal machine to be a better option than Daka. Daka has one goal in his last 47 games for us. I would expect those figures from a reserve left back. There's absolutely no way that he can be our best option. We'd be better off playing someone like Mavididi or Reid up front. He plays like he's wearing jeans and doc martens. I've never seen a player so poor technically in a Leicester shirt. Every attack dies the moment he gets near the ball. Give Carranza the chance to show what he can do because neither Daka or Ayew are good enough to be starting games at this level. We know that as a certainty. 3 1
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 6 October 2025 Posted 6 October 2025 Daka is what Vardy would’ve been had Vards not put the extra hours in to work on every aspect of his game, multiple times. When Vards first joined us, he was lacking in many areas. He worked on them. He worked on them again after the first season in the PL. he worked on them again as his style changed for Rodgers. The work ethic of the man hardly gets mentioned but his relentless attitude to succeed meant he continually improved - I bet at 38 he is still working on things to improve himself for serie A. He went from 5/6 goals in 30 odd games to the PL golden boot. And that’s where my criticism of Daka is. And I know people will say, well you don’t know what he does, how much extra training he puts in etc. this is a man on bags of money. Signed for millions. Linked with Liverpool at the time and only a few years ago, subject to a £20m bid from Bournemouth. Yet he can’t control a ball. Aim a shot or stay on his feet at the slightest touch. Proof is out there. He should get a run of games not because he deserves it but as someone else said, he is all we have up there. However, the lack of personal development suggests it will be another chance Daka doesn’t take. And believe me, with him being from a certain part of the world, I’m desperate for him to succeed. What might help him is having a partner up front. Ayew in a hybrid 10/striker role - he isn’t a 10 I know but maybe someone to get the ball in the box and pick up the scraps. We seem to be going back to the good old days in the PL why not try out the 2 strikers

After thinking about it, I cant argue with your point. Honestly cant, you are right, there is players that get picked out, and yeah you do sometimes wonder what people want. Whilst I dont currently rate Daka, I most certainly hope he proves me wrong and starts banging in goals for us.

Wymsey Posted 6 October 2025 Posted 6 October 2025 Think he needs to add more aggression to his game, as no one else is going to reignite his confidence but himself.
Scoop Dog Posted 6 October 2025 Posted 6 October 2025 He's not scoring but has played a part in some goals
lgfualol Posted 7 October 2025 Posted 7 October 2025 Don’t care if he’s shite, much better than watching Ayew in the striker role 4

AKCJ Posted 9 October 2025 Posted 9 October 2025 He had a little spell from about October to December that season where he looked like a good striker but everything outside of those couple of months has been nothing short of abject. 1

Yeah it's a typo, some suggesting an intended typo to spark interactions. It means to say 9 minutes and 34 seconds. Edited 9 October 2025 by TheGoldenGod

Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 9 October 2025 Posted 9 October 2025 I always think this. In the handful of games Daka has looked good for us - and appreciate there is not a lot. It’s when he has played in 2. Two that jump - his hattrick in Europe - Kelechi was the second striker. Brighton where we got battered, Kel again was the striker. Ayew is not a 10. And we’ve had some fabulous players in the 10 role. We are dependent on Ramsey hitting the ground running and make that spot his. I don’t think Daka can play as a lone striker. However, with Ayew, it might take a bit of the burden off him, allow him to occupy the box. Have some to take the hits. It’s the only reason I’d like to see Ayew back starting. If we are going to have a striker/goal scorer this year, it’s going to be Daka if we don’t sign anybody. Maybe adapting the formation for him wouldn’t be the worse thing.
