Nasty challenge that. McManaman laughing is poor

I'd never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but I preferred Hoddle's commentary last night! :P

Why do they make out Emery was a complete flop at Arsenal? He finished 5th and reached the Europa final in his full season.

It's hilarious when they wax lyrical about arteta who's finished 8th 8th

Why are bt and sky having fans of the clubs playing commentating on every single game? It’s a joke.

Tbf I half understand the McManaman one given he played Spanish football and on paper could give an insight.

In reality he's a moron and you're right.

Have one on the analysis panel, along with a neutral and then one for the other side or in these cases a player or journalist with insight into the club like they did for the BT Bundesliga coverage

Yeah I could understand if it was a one off, but it’s been every Liverpool champs league game I’ve seen for a few years now.

Actually jealous how Villarreal are playing here, proper fight and togetherness

Reminds me of us during the title win, the CL run and the FA Cup final

Absolutely, I usually avoid Liverpool games on BT due to it

I don't think he's been too bad tbh, of the Scouse ones he's usually the more balanced

He does seem to be being a bit more balanced now, he seemed to be being too much of a fan earlier.

Admittedly I never really bother with games on BT, was it last year or this year when he was literally doing all of our European games?

Last year I think.

Wish we heard more from Hargreaves who at least adds more knowledge to Darren and McManamans bleating

McManaman does have a bit more umpf in delivery though, Hargreaves is great as a pundit but he doesn't really suit Comms

To be fair to him, MichaelOwen is as thick as month old rice pudding.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else ties his shoelaces for him.

It's probably discriminatory to mock his affliction.

I think you're being a tad too harsh. The rice pudding deserves better.

I genuinely can't get over how thick he is. I mean this in all seriousness, I'm not joking for the banter, I honestly think he's comfortably the least intelligent pundit I've ever seen on TV. Doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

Never got the impression as a player he was THAT thick.

Guys like Beckham and Rooney always got pegged as eejits in their career but Owen makes them look like Stephen Hawking and Brian Cox respectively.

I know we give Macca some pelters and I definitely think he's awful when covering Liverpool but actually he's a fairly cultured guy who likes to travel, knows a bit about the world, clearly enjoys watching lots of different sport and speaks pretty well about players from clubs round Europe. You can tell he watches a lot of football for the actual love of it.

I don't think he's a great pundit and he definitely shouldn't cover his former clubs, he's bias af. But he's not the idiot we all like to pretend he is. Not anywhere near Owen.

The thing with Owen is he always striker me as someone who never really liked football but was just naturally gifted at it, which is odd how he's ended up in prominent pundit roles. Doesn't wind me up as much as anybody else though, but I think it's because I loved him as a player

See this is exactly it. He speaks like someone who doesn't follow the game, doesn't really study it, doesn't give much of a fvck about it even.
