Good places to eat in rural NE Leicestershire

I'm meeting a friend for dinner at 8 tonight, somewhere in the part of our county I don't know well. Done some research and probably don't want 'fine dining', but any recommendations for places to eat not a million miles from the A46 would be very much appreciated. Loughborough is the most southern I want to go, just to limit the parameters slightly, as I'm coming from Mansfield.

The Pear Tree Inn, Woodhouse Eaves. The food is unreal and it's not too expensive.

The Plough in Normanton on Soar was lovely the last time I went, it's a lovely setting right on the river, and the food was fab. Also the Badger's Sett in Cropston is nice, although that's a bit farther south.

The Anchor at Nether Broughton. On the main road between Melton and Nottingham, easy to get to from the A46.

Rural NE Leicestershire would be Vale of Belvoir way, few nice pubs but a bit off the A46

Annoyingly, by the time they'd confirmed it was too late to book.

If you fancy somewhere a bit more central, a mate of mine (Del is his name) recommends the £400 for 2 dining package at the KP. Beautiful. Don't go if thirsty though.

The Boathouse, located at 'Pillings Lock Marina' in Quorn, is quite a hidden gem in Leicestershire.

It has a small restaurant, where I had a great breakfast the other day, which has views overlooking the lock.

 

Would definitely recommend.

i have been twice, food was ok nothing special i thought. very pretentious and attracts the new money crowd that struggle to hold their cutlery properly and let their kids play games loud on their phone without any consideration 

 

Takeaway wise -Istanbul BBQ in barrow upon soar, unbeatable
