Thought Vardy, Lookman and Iheanacho were all great and they should all start next game.

Actually thought Soyuncu did ok today, but the rest of the defence+goalkeeper were a bit shit - including Ricardo, who seemingly got away with some pretty abysmal defending for their 2nd and then again almost straight afterwards, because everyone was blaming Vestergaard.

We looked much better defensively down that right once Castagne came on for Ricardo.

Ndidi, Barnes and Tielemans seemed to continue their pretty mediocre starts to the season as well too sadly, though I thought Barnes was a bit better and beating people a bit more. Soumare was a bit meh.

Probably because there was little to defend in the second half, with Cornet having left injured.

Agreed Ricardo was AWOL on their 2d goal, but the CBs should have been covering when he went up to join the attack.

I thought Soumare was ok, but I agree with the rest of your post.

He was quite good.

As frankly was the rest of the midfield (the odd misplaced pass/lost ball notwithstanding). Midfield was hardly the issue today.

Same here. I thought he played some nice forward passes and linked up with Barnes quite well.

I think you should watch the 2nd goal again. Ricardo wasn't awol,  he was in the thick of it. He completely ignored Cornet just behind him and Ricardo stood there like a statue, then put a weak leg up once Corbet easily peeled off him.

Then Ricardo did almost the exact same thing about a minute later and Corbet should've scored again.

Vestergaard absolutely should've done much better to stop the cross coming in, but there's a lot of whataboutery in defending of Ricardo's performance.

It's bizarre that Bertrand has a lower rating than Ricardo here and pretty telling that people are voting up on favourites and voting down on scapegoat of the month, rather than voting on their actual performance.

Actually, I was thinking about the Cornet chance after their 2d goal.

On another point, thought Bertrand was dog turd first-half (as had been in previous 2 games).

When I saw the sub, thought the wrong FB was taken off. But hey, it's all about personal opinions.

Schmeichel’s distribution is woeful. The defenders and midfielders do not give me any confidence when playing the ball from goal kicks and free kicks.  We generally end up giving the ball away closer to our goal than we would if we had belted it upfield. We think we are Man City but play like more like Exeter City. Why do we continually play the ball backwards when a much more progressive option is available? That said Lookman, Barnes and Vardy for me were bright sparks in a frustrating afternoon.

I thought Soumare was the best of our midfielders today, but we needed Nacho on, and there was never any prospect of Rodgers taking Tielemans or Ndidi off, so it was always going to be Soumare who went.   I feel like Soumare has deserved a higher rating than he has averaged on here, i wonder if he`s been marked down because he started ahead of Nacho, who i think most of us feel should have started.  Or maybe my match day player judgement is just useless. lol
