3 things I would like to see Leicester City adopt in future matches, all very simple..

1) When we are defending corners can we leave 1 or maybe even 2 of our quicker players (full backs) on the half way line.

2) Can we please get our goalkeeper to do the old fashioned thing of ‘clearing his lines’ and just boot the ball forward, goal kicks included.

3) Stop trying to win the possession average in our half and end this sideways/backwards football and either press forward or refer to option 2) above.

Not rocket science really…

Not all of us just want the ball pumped forwards to see what drops out of the mixer .

BUT the lack of crispness in our passing at the moment means we will simply not open up the opposition by passing it around. We’re just recycling it for the sake of it and on occasions putting ourselves under pressure via a poor pass or control.

so we do need to play more balls into the channels simply to enable us to play in the opposition half from time to time.  But it’s tough for the keeper to make a pass of that kind.

I don't agree with just boot the ball forward,

But I definitely agree with number 1, keep Vardy forward and it at least gives us an option to counter.

Then again first we need to be able to defend set-pieces.

Kasper seems to find the opposition quite regularly with his chips…

Why would you put the full backs on the half way line from a corner lol

Counter attack, generally smaller players and usually quick, makes the opponent’s keep players back with them, used to always see it a good few years ago..

If anybody stays forward in 2s, I would choose  2 of Vardy ,Lookman,Barnes...

Nacho you want back because of his hight..

Fbs know their Jobs at corners...

We’re getting to the point in football where you need iniesta as a cb. The ball is always with them and the issue is that far too often they are the ones trying the dangerous ball

We did all that in 15/16 look where that got us.

I don't agree with the idea of not playing out from the back. If we lump it forward then we're more than likely going to concede possession as we don't have the players to win aerial battles and hold up the ball, and even if we did the success rate isn't that high playing that way. We could however mix it up, when it's clear we can't beat the press then launch it or if the opposition are on top, then maybe we could launch it long to Barnes on the touchline where he may have space to take a touch too and counter!

There's a time and a place for the keeper booting it up the pitch.  I don't want to see us do it all the time but I would like to see it more often.  I get nervous every time we roll it around the edge of our box we seldom have a decent plan to transition to the front players.  Invariably, we do 3 or 4 tippy-tappy passes around the box, get put under pressure and then try to hoof it away anyway!  But, like I said, there's a time and a place.  What I would like to see us stop doing is these silly floaty balls from Kasper to around half way in our own half.  They cause more problems than they're worth.

.....not sure why we would be leaving Fullbacks upfront when we are defending!!!

If anything we need them to be available to pick up any loose ball in and around the box. Having Vardy at our near post has helped but I am always disappointed to see him there and we need a better setup when defending.

I totally agree about having people upfront, it is just the personnel we choose to do this role or the fact we do not have this outlet that worries me.

Just thought that with Vardy being decent in the air he would be needed at defending corners, the likes of Thomas, Ricardo & Albrighton don’t have the height needed at corners but they do possess skill & speed, meaning 2 maybe 3 less opposition in our box, we used to do it a few years ago..

.....I have long given up with the idea of keeping players upfield to dissuade opponents from crowding us in our box!!!

If anything Barnes needs to stay high up the pitch or someone with pace and with support. We need someone who can score or supply and Vardy and Barnes staying near the half-way line would mean the opposition would be foolish to commit too many forward.

The big issue is when we pick up the second ball, we have someone with the intelligence to carry it out of defence as opposed to hoofing it upfield and making it a 50/50 contest.

More or less what I said and nearly all challenges in football are 50/50, remember 2015/16 when we shifted the ball at pace or had many many flick ons and shocked the world, that’s the kind of football I prefer not this turgid stuff we are playing at the minute…

You cannot be at the level we find ourselves and play that style, other clubs are not stupid unfortunately.  Part of that reason that the style of play was possible was because everyone else thought we were shite, and once we have built up such a head of steam, it was impossible to stop us.

....I was agreeing with your point of keeping players back but not convinced the players that should be doing it should be Fullbacks!!!

The 50/50 comment was to illustrate hitting the ball long from the edge of your box to your own player half way into your opponents half makes the outcome a 50/50 chance

. If you can recall the Demarai Gray breakaway where he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and drove with it to just inside the opponents half where he then released it to Mahrez who then instantly played it into Vardy who was on the move into the box who went on to score. This I believe was either Puel's first game with us or one of his first. It just goes to show what a threat there is when you leave men upfield, and someone takes the initiative to hold on to the ball, and progress it themselves.

Remarkable how simple football is really. Boot it long, win the flick-ons, attack, score, don't concede.

If Carlsberg did football…

1, no bad idea 2, nope pointless 3, if you keep the ball you don't let goals in. Let's just do what we are doing but a bit better we are not far off. Do you want little back?
