I think If we do shift the deadwood it’s more likely we will look for decent value additions/players with future sell on potential. I think if players like Praet, Choudhury and Perez leave we will look to replace them with players like James Garner or take a punt on a talented yongster like Alex Scott from the Championship. if we sell Youri then I think it will be a ready made replacement like Aaour or Kokcu Yes, and why have we bothered to hire a new head of recruitment who actually can play no part in this transfer window? He's still at Southampton for christ sake. Who at the club thought that a good idea? 1

It is not about affordability it is about not being willing. "Leicester do not need to sell. Their issues in what has been a frozen transfer window so far have been around squad capacity. They have too many senior players. They have to make room before they can bring in new signings or risk being left with senior players on good wages being left out of the squad and unable to contribute, a prospect that makes no sense in any business model. Selling an asset doesn’t solve a problem." Someone high up has said we aren't having 4 or 5 players unregistered drawing a wage. Edited 9 August 2022 by coolhandfox

We really are up the creek without a paddle aint we. Its not about money, we have money just not room in the squad. We need to shift players first.

Dahnsouff Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 Should Fofana go, Ronnie Edwards at Peterboro as the prospect + more experienced loan? Or too raw? Too expensive?

We can always leave players out of the squad and hope to loan them to a Championship team as a last resort with a % of wage covered if it was purely about squad room. 130k pw and a space freed and still no incomings.
cruzFOX Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 I’m really starting to dislike Southampton now! Feel like this is there sneaky way to get revenge on us for that humiliating defeat several seasons ago. lurch & berty and now the recruitment guy. feels disproportionate. Hope we give them another ass whooping this season!

lcfc_forever Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 Chelsea are lowballing us in the hope Fofana tries to force a move. But that could backfire on him hugely with a World Cup approaching. We’ve got a very strong hand. So far, we’re playing it well. 1

Grebfromgrebland Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 I was shot down for saying that we've ballsed up not having someone in to manage recruitment, which includes outgoings and wheeling and dealing over this crucial transfer window. At the same time Southampton have the old guy in (Glover) and the new guy from man city already working for them sending them loads of talent / ideas 1 2

It is not about moving out one player even if they are on 130k even without Kasper we still have 29 players we have to register in the squad! Currently, even without signing a single player we will be paid 4 players to do nothing, sign 1 player that becomes 5 being paid for doing nothing!!!! cruzFOX Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 I’m sure folks at the high levels of the club know this is not a good situation we are in. They just don’t say much to the public of us the fans. If there busy trying to fix it then let them get in with it. Just hope they learn big time from this mess.
jayfox26 Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 Probably a good job I'm not DOF as I'd probably risk the finances of the club out of spite and not sell Fofana cos Chelsea are a scummy club and their fans are entitled c*nts. Seen so many saying Fofana is average and not worth more than £40m. Really does show how so many fans of "big clubs" have no idea about any players other than the ones that play for their club! 1

Quite a few Ostriches on here who don't like the sound of the truth. It is farcical that our new head of recruitment is still at a rival club during what should be his most important time of the season. Someone needs sacking for it.
fox_up_north Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 I thought he'd moved already? So are we paying him to stay at Southampton?

The working world in football is as the working world at large, the best people often come with such strictures and conditions, the fault lies in the timing, not the person necessarily. Even the timing we have no idea then steps invoived to gain access to said person, the conditons of his current contract.

Leicester_Loyal Posted 9 August 2022 Posted 9 August 2022 With those 4 players being paid to do nothing, we've simply got to get through this season and go again next summer sadly. We can't afford new players, we can't afford to pay Rodgers off, so hopefully we can just stay up, bank the cash, improve the turnover and then re-build next summer. We'll have to sell a star player next summer for sure, let all the dross who are out of contract go, all whilst giving new contracts this season to players like Maddison, Ndidi and Vardy. Not a great time to be a fan, but the main thing is the club is sustainable and we stay in the PL.
