What goes in our favour is we have a reputation for developing players, paying them very well along the way and although we negotiate strong, we do sell at the right price rather than continue to reject offers. I can't recall a player whose been denied a move in the last 5 years here who then stayed here or left to an inferior club later down the line.

Oh for sure, and adding in @Heskey2011 too, it is likely a personal concern, but Mahrez did not have all his own way (no bad thing obviously) and we do not relent to player power (also good) so I am suspect my concerns lie only with the overvaluation on here (in my opinion) which obviously has no real impact, but if they were real may cause future issues.

Depending on how the bid is structured i think we will accept.

Undoubtedly has an impact. If we are seen as difficult for the next move (whether we are or not), it makes one think twice. Mahrez said it. Fofana has said it. I dont believe on either occasion those two players were correct but it will influence a certain type of player.

Hasn't hurt Spurs. We've been a great stepping stone for Maguire, Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater etc to get big moves. It's not that we are difficult to deal with we are just asking for what we see as a fair transfer fee. Who have we actually stopped leaving that really wanted to go? Players should be pleased that we ask for top money for them to leave. The ones we got big money for Maguire, Mahrez potentially Fofana will be first team players because that's what the money means. Drinkwater was big money for him but not for a player and look at what happened to him. He couldn't get a sniff. We aren't pushovers but players that get a move are because either we want rid or the buying club really, really want them so what is bad about that from a players perspective?

So will giving in to Chelsea. LCFC must do what is best for Leicester today.

I don't get what i'm looking at here. Can someone translate?

Well, that’s Fofanna’s official Instagram account. He’s shared a post from another instragram account which appears to be some sort of online “agent” or “transfer specialist”. I’m confused as to why he’s shared it? He’s not playing on the weekend. Brendan has confirmed as much.

Let’s look at the trend of players running down contracts, let’s see how it starts impacting us more and more and then pretend it’s not having an impact.

It happens to all clubs though. Just look at Chelsea. The only reason they need to sign Fofana is because Rudiger and Christensen ran down their contracts and left on a free and they were paying them both a fortune in wages. It's not just a Leicester problem.

We could have a reputation already for overpricing players Mags and Drinky for example. Kante being the other end of the scale.

Mahrez fee seems bang on now to me. If they're going to be first team for a top 4 then they need to pay the big money. Fof is younger and has more resale value and a longer contract. So we should be charging big big money, 80m plus or I honestly think we're undervaluing him.

I think it’s some sort of eSports thing. He posted something about it a couple of weeks ago, not sure if he “plays” for them or whatever?!

Still ironic he’s posted it as it’s Chelsea v Leicester this weekend and his pic used

Not really, that certainly was not what I was trying to say, more about preserving a way of working

Has anyone actually considered that £85m wasn't actually the price we were after?

It seems a fairly basic negotiating tactic for the seller to go high, the buyer to go low so that both parties get a number somewhere in the middle that they both knew would be the price...

Just that some of the prices stated would deter any prospects from joining as they are effectively being priced out of ‘next step’ moves

I mean Wes is going to get a big move this summer or next. We’re not gonna force him to stay here 5 years. Ajax are doing something similar with Antony and I dont think prospects will be wary of joining them.

Exactly. Can’t get bullied by bigger clubs. You want our top young guys - pay what we ask.

I'm fully expecting him to be camping out in the First Class lounge at the train station on deadline day.
