2015/2016 How it could have all gone wrong

Let's have some discussion about your recollections of times in the 2015/2016 season when our dream of winning the Premier League could have ended in tears. Here's my list:

Ulloa failing to score late on against Norwich, and missing the penalty against West Ham at home

Simpson  being red carded in the home game against Southampton when Mane goes around Schmeichel and Mane hits the ball towards goal, the ball striking Simpson on his arm

Kane's shot in the away game going in instead of hitting the bar

Jack Rodwell equalising from twelve yards out for Sunderland in the away game, instead of blazing over

It seems some People masochistically prefer to turn a pastime -entertainment History achievement around....

Instead of just enjoying the moment forever....

Then Enjoy Building it up, just  so they can Enjoy in their minds , an entitled View that anything after is only Chaos & failure...

If all of those things happen we lose 2 points against Norwich, 1 point against West Ham, 2 points against Spurs and 2 points against Sunderland and then…

still win the league by 3 points!

The reaction to the Arsenal defeat could’ve been so different. That could’ve broken us. Our reaction to that was exceptional and made us champions.

If Spurs had beaten us, the gap would only have been 7 points

So your saying both if Kane scored and we don’t score in that game??

We finished 11 points clear of Spurs at the end of the season - it wasn’t even close!

Always thought in the great escape season, in the huge 6 pointer at the end vs Burnley, where Matt Taylor hits the post from a penalty then we go straight up the other end and score and win 1-0. Wonder what could've happened if Taylor had scored his penalty.

The other one, a few games before that, was in the 0-0 with Hull where Abel Hernandez went through on goal about 15 mins from the end and Schwarzer saved. That would have been a  massive goal for Hull and may well have finished us off before the great escape even began.

Spurs lost their last two games ……. you think that happens if we hadn’t won the league after 36 games  ??

that win at WHL was vital but there are so many twists and turns in a season that this thread could be longer than the Maynard one ….

Jesus, so now IF all of those above things had happened plus we didn’t score away at Spurs, plus Spurs win two more games - yes then it might have all gone wrong.

Amazing, if Spurs had got more points than us they would have won the league - they didn’t.

You're using an "if" argument to negate an already "if" discussion.  Can't compute that.

Norwich was a massive goal alright but we would have got back on track after a West Ham defeat I reckon. The title was in our grasp after Crystal Palace away.

We were so fortunate that Kante didn’t pick up any significant injury all season. He was out of the home game against West Brom and I think King and Drinkwater started in the middle of midfield and we really laboured to a 2-2 draw that night. Anything more serious and we could have had a really patchy spell of form.

On a similar note, I remember Mahrez pulling up with cramp away at Watford during the run-in and the away end collectively gasping.

100%. Couldn’t believe the series of events in that game in less than a minute.

Almost as insane as the 60 seconds against Watford in the play offs:ph34r:

Completely forget about Huth nearly scoring an OG afterwards as well, but Schmeichel made a great save. Crazy game that one.

One interesting scenario if Pearson had been sacked, won the league with Leicester. Would he have been appointed the England manager in 2016 replacing Hodgson after the Euros mess.

Claudio could have persisted with De Laet and Schlupp at full back instead of Simpson / Fuchs.

What an important change that was!

...after the 2-5 against Arsenal. Which leads to one of my answers - Vardy heading against the bar when we were 1-0 up against them (he'd already hit the upright at 0-0). Who knows...
