Sposed to absolutely fook it down for Parkrun tomorrow. Bring it on.

About stopped when starting. Was going to do a spot of tourism, didn’t bother and kept it local.

I’ve ran Vicky Pqrk four times and three times I’ve done it at the same pace

Finished well sub-26 today, a minute quicker than last weeks PB. Felt rough as hell aswell and forgot to press start on Strava so assumed I'd done it in about 27/28. My goal of running a sub-25 by Christmas looks more than achievable now.

Anyone got any recommendations for marathons in Feb/March? Hopefully quite close to Leicestershire as I don’t want to have to pay for a hotel.

Struggling mate. Similar boat here.

Ashby has a 20 miler in late March with an eye for training programme to Marathons in April (London, Manchester, Brighton)

Crap isn’t it, looked at Manchester marathon but thinking that’s maybe further away than I wanted but might go for it.

Definitely doing the Eryri Marathon next October.

Sorry, you could try Warwick, it's only a half marathon but I enjoyed the route this year and the timing is right on 2nd February 2025, could always extend it and do a bit extra.

Did 500ft of elevation in 3 miles today with no repeat hills just one point to point.

Pretty climby for Leicestershire

Cheers, really want to do a few marathons next year and I’ve already got Great North for a half. Obviously depends if I can find one though.

The 3 peaks Leics Trail would be up your street.

Anyone done the mallory park half marathon? Next ones 19th Jan and thinking of doing it.

I'm going to do the 10k to test myself ahead of the Leicestershire half. Assuming round a track a half marathon might get a bit monotonous?

27:20 y'day, for 5km, knee pain now easing, Warming up for the Silverstone 10km next month, never ran a big run with lots of people since secondary school cross country days. Will take some gels for around 6/7km.. apparently you have to practice with them before hand as can upset you stomach? any recommendations?

I've been using the bog standard Applied Nutrition endurance gels the last couple of weeks on long runs with no I'll effects and I've never really used gels for running before. Think everybody is different though, so trial and error.

You won’t need any gels etc for a 10km.

Bashed out a 24:21 Parkrun today, so my goal of sub-25 by Christmas is now complete.

I'm coming for you Sub-23!

I got down to about 24:00 and that's about as far as I could do. More optimistic about improving on my 10k PB (51:34).

As for gels, I've only ever used Science in Sport and never had any problems, but they gave someone I recommended them to the shits to the extent that I think they thought I was pranking them

Ran in the Monsal trail half marathon with the old man today. We were going for a 2 hour time but he faceplanted a mile in and ran the continued run with a twisted ankle. Well proud of him. He’s in his 60s but a few years ago he did a half in 1 hour 36 minutes. Not bad for an old man with cancer.

I tries SIS when I used to do road racing cycling, never agreed with me! Didn't get the shits but it was instant stomach ache. Strange how things affect people differently.

As for the 5K, at 38 I think any hope of a sub 20 or even a sub-23 might be beyond me, but like you I'm hoping to improve on distance long term, got plenty of 10k and a couple of Half Marathons on my list for the next 18 months.

Really just enjoying my running at the moment, feel like it's the fittest I've been since I gave up football 15 odd years ago.

@SecretPro you fit a similar age bracket to myself - I managed 23:08 this May. You’ll be able to do it but in my experience I can only get down to those times at my lightest weight wise. Vicky Pk your parkrun - that hill at the end is probably taking a good twenty seconds off what you can do.

This weekend I did Sence Valley Park Run - somehow managed sub 25 - despite the diet of a slug on Friday. Sort of semi trail course, can just about getting away with standard running trainers at the moment but cracking course. A few hills to test but wide paths. Nice location.

Last week of C25K.

3 x 28 minute runs this week which seemed absolutely impossible not even that long ago. Can't recommend the program enough TBF, it's great.

I think I'm at my limit though. I really struggle with hip flexor pain when running... I'm 6ft 4 and I know my form is terrible, but at 37, it's not going to get any better.

I've only been running solidly for about a year and a half (I'm about 6'1" and 34) but I used to get this n all, however don't at all now. Not sure if my body has just adjusted or what. And I run like a swan on a motorway

New Half Marathon World Record over the weekend

57:30!

If somebody can turn that into a negative split for the full 26.2 then that's going to be some time!
